I need to move to England. Americans call a "new build" garden their backyard. A typical American backyard is a patio, grass, and a fence. If you are lucky enough, you might get a tree. Anything else, you have to plant. One thing I love about Brits is their love of a full garden

That spiral mound is stunning. The whole program is so inspiring. I’m going to make one of those screens in my garden. I love Alan’s programs and can adapt a lot for my Southern Australian garden.

Thank you for the video. This year I cannot visit the UK so I appreciate such a presentation a lot. Last summer I was able to film eight really interesting gardens in southern England, but I have finished doing the montage for just four of them, so there are still four "to go" :-)

I must admit I never liked the typical rose gardens which I saw in my childhood, with roses and bare soil only. Nowadays I understand that this style of growing roses makes taking care of them (fertilising, weeding, collecting dead leaves) much easier. I have a small naturalistic garden with over 140 roses underplanted with perennials and annuals. I grow mainly Germany-bred roses which are more suited to my conditions, as well as some DA roses and Canadian ones.

Beautiful presentation. Love a host that is passionate and who's not afraid to get in the thick of things 🏆 A few other interesting "morsels" about the lotus is it's food value. The roots are an important food in many different Asian cuisines, as well as the lotus seeds, which were a popular candied or roasted snack back in ancient times. Amazing that it's more closely related to a tree than the water lily 😲
