That was a very well made video. How did you do the sailing animation?
@ibamsey5 жыл бұрын
I used Blender 3d. It's a free 3d modelling tool. I already had a model of the boat I used to design a sail. It was really easy to animate and then just edit the sequences into the rest of the video. Just a bit of fun trying something new. Thanks for the comment.

That was a really good video, makes me want this Tiki 21 even more. How long does it take to assemble at the boat ramp
@ibamsey6 жыл бұрын
It takes around 3 hours if you have a few people. The lashings take a bit of time and there are 12 to do. It takes a while to get everything set up just right. I keep the boat on a mooring through the summer, so it's no big deal.

Well ... going out on a limb here ... risk creates a fleeting yet compelling identity that answers to the instability of our relations with the natural world ... something something ... so I think this deserves our indulgence. ;)

Great stuff. I've seen your boat on the Exe many times, you've made some fantastic trips in her by the looks of things. That shallow draft really pays off for access to more adventurous anchorages.

Thanks for the comment. It seems that my choice of colour gets the boat noticed. Someone came up to me miles from home who said they'd seen the boat from the railway on the Exe. Fame at last!

+Peter Wynn wow really. Do tell me more? It is Gratitude, from Topsham.
@peterwynn40888 жыл бұрын
My Dad built Gratitude in the 80s. He lives in Topsham now although she was built in Derbyshire. I kept her for years in Essex. She spent any summers in Croatia cruising the Adriatic. I learned to sail by getting it all wrong and refusing to ask anyone else's opinion and

if it had been on any other boat I would probably be at the bottom of the sea.

Thanks +Peter Wynn. I know of your dad and a bit about the boat from Clive Stiff, a good friend, from whom I bought it. I first wnet on it when Clive first owned it back some 10 years. It went away and then Clive bought it back again. It's certainly been a few places and had a few owners. Well done for recognising it. I did a lot of work restoring it 2 year back. It needed new platforms and a new mast and plenty of TLC. You can see a few of the pictures at wharrambuilders.ning.com/profile/IanBamsey It's currently getting a bit more maintenance before this season starts. I'd love to get to Croatia, but I'm not sure my wife's convinced!
