Most beautiful rendition with so much controlled emotion

Quite beautifully delivered and with a dense musically and textually mastered altogether the orchestra also quite wonderful. The combination produces great performance. Hurray

The voice has matured like a fine wine. Whatever you are doing Mr. Goodwin, keep on doing it. (sounds fresher and younger than 10 years ago)

An absolutely magnificent performance. And there's not a close second out there. The other tenors I've listened to on KZbin all sound like circus barkers compared to this. A beautifully registrated voice that floats into that glorious top and TASTE! I am in awe of Andrew Goodwin's talent and integrity as an artist. He is truly one of a kind.
@DonVueltaMorales19 күн бұрын
I almost agree. Look for Paul Elliott from the late 70s.
@ian185619 күн бұрын
@@DonVueltaMorales I did. A typical British church singer with a white voice and no connection to the body, hence the aspirated pseudo-coloratura with a million breaths. It's an easy aria when you just croon it.
@DonVueltaMorales18 күн бұрын
@@ian1856 Goodwin is excellent--no argument there. I'm about Elliott's age, and when the Hogwood recording came out, it redefined _Messiah_ . Compare Alfred Deller to James Bowman to just about any countertenor recording today. The shift in quality is tectonic. I think I still have a bias toward the English choirboy timbre of Elliott. Compare Andreas Scholl's live recording of "Ombre mai fu" with any of the other excellent recordings. Scholl is astounding because he is still a "choirboy." I guess I might have been biased here because of the large, contemporary-instrument orchestra and the Mahler chorus waiting to "And the Glory" us right in the face.
@ian185618 күн бұрын
@@DonVueltaMorales For me, Scholl is not a choirboy. He knows how to sing. Elliott does not. He has facility, to be sure, but that's neither technique nor artistry. Bottom line, we're both entitled to our opinions. Merry Christmas, and enjoy the music!

Until now, I’ve watched performance videos of tenors singing “Every Valley” which always puts me in a good mood, even though I’m not particularly religious. I enjoy listening to the elongated “a-allll” in the word exalted. I loved watching the switch in tempo and mood from “Comfort Ye” to “Every Valley.” I thought “Every Valley” was played a bit faster than usual but still a great performance by Mr. Goodwin and the orchestra.

Singing in the car while driving automatically causes bleating. Stop it. You have way to much talent than to produce this level of populist crap.

Gar nicht schlecht but how do you perform this in public? Presumably without the exaggerated arm gestures? Record this again and retain the gestures within your head. Then you might have something Sir.
