She seems like a very nice and classy lady. Thank goodness she hasn't ruined herself with plastic surgery. The one flat note for me in this interview is the idea that women were not allowed to be funny, or some such idea, back in the dark ages of the 1980s. Women have been being funny on American TV since at least 1951 when I Love Lucy went on the air, and in the movies for decades before that. By the 80s there were MANY female centered comedies. Mary Tyler Moore, Maude, Rhoada, One Day at A Time, Alice and many others. I really don't understand what she was saying there.

Jerry is the best (and richest) comedian of all-time! You have to respect the fact that he can make you laugh silly without using profanity. Is there any other comedian in history who can do that as prolifically! I've seen the Seinfeld series straight through from start to finish at least 4 times. I just cycle through it while eating dinner and laugh every time. It never gets old! The writing and delivery is absolutely brilliant! No other series even comes close. It's like Seinfeld is a 10 and the next best show ever is a 5 or 6. It's in a league of its own.

It’s absolutely true - Stan Freberg INVENTED the “funny commercial”. He wrote and produced so many of them (starting in radio), I don’t think anyone has a fully accurate count of just how many he made. But you can trust me when I tell you that they number in at least the high one-hundreds… and more like THOUSANDS, BEFORE he ever got to TV! He also was under contract to Capitol Records, and he used to tell people that his comedy records weren’t released - they ESCAPED! So in the late 1970’s, when I started in radio, I was the lucky guy who got over 10,000 assignments to write and produce radio commercials at my first radio job. I didn’t realize this until years later, but I had actually been studying Stan’s work since I was FIVE YEARS OLD (in 1960)! I was able to do imitations of several of Freberg’s voices, as well as some of Daws Butler’s voices (which he did for Jay Ward’s “Fractured Fairy Tales” on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show) along with some of his voices from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons he did, and if I were to try to list those voices by character name, we’d be here all day! In addition, I did many character voices of my own. In my various radio gigs, besides working six days a week as a DJ, I had to make a number of commercials every day. I once did a conservative estimate of the number of those commercials, and it came out to somewhere over TEN THOUSAND of them! And Daws had worked with Stan for many years, both on commercials and The Stan Freberg Show on CBS Radio! Again, little did I know that Daws would end up being my voice acting coach! When I finally met Stan Freberg, it was in 1988 at Daws’ funeral. I consider myself VERY lucky to have known the famous voice actors who counted themselves among my friends - such as the great June Foray (the voice of Witch Hazel for Warner Bros., Walter Lantz [producer of the Woody Woodpecker cartoons] and even for Walt Disney! June told me that as far as she knew, she was the ONLY voice actor who had played the same character for THREE STUDIOS! There were many other cartoon voices who were or are friends, but this is too long already. To all the great Voice Actors who befriended me, I can only say, “Thank You!”.

I like Helen Crump for Andy. She was pretty and funny, especially when she gets jealous and mad. Elli Walker was sweet. Peggy was gorgeous, and classy. Joanna Moore married Ryan O'Neil and is the mother of Tatum and Griffin. It's sad she had a troubled personal life.

I feel honored that he and I share the same initials WM, and both are born in the month of December. I own 2 decks of replica Gambit cards. I remember Gambit like it was yesterday and my obsession with playing cards began way back in 1972! Thanks for all you've done Wink!

People mistaken Joan’s stage persona for her real personality. A comedian always has a facade, it’s required. A comedian must be bigger than life because no one wants to pay to see normalcy. Joan played her part brilliantly. Crass, rude, unfiltered. Off the stage, everyone knew her as the best person. She gifted her team expensive necklaces (a story told to reporters by her assistants) and was always giving gifts. Her act calls Lucille many names and made fun of her appearance. Off stage, she loves Lucille. Yet, people only know her for being spiteful and rude. They don’t mention her business acumen and love for her fellow female comics and performers. Legend.

I went to hear Doc Severinsen and his musical group play at Yoshi's Jazz club in Oakland, California. His band had a percussionist, bassist, guitarist, violinist, and an accordion player, plus Doc's trumpet. As soon as he came out to play, he held his horn straight out, and his shoulders rose up half a foot as he took a huge breath. The sound that came out of his horn was amazing. He had a sound that was totally commercial-studio-grade professional. Powerful, polished, elegant, and majestic.

Doc Severinsen illustrates the difference between professional athletes and professional musicians. Athletes reach their peak in their twenties. By the time they are in their late thirties, they are well over the hill and ready to retire with injuries. On the other hand, professional musicians who live into their nineties, can still play. Not as well as they played in younger years, but they can still play very well. Vladimir Horowitz, Arthur Rubenstein, and Doc Severinsen are all examples of this.

It was little known that Johnny Carson was also a very versatile performer. He actually sang, danced, played drums, and guitar very well, in addition to his amazing speaking skills. When he did the fast-talking Art Fern character, he spoke beyond the speed of sound, and clearly, continuously. An American original.
