Just watching your video as i am off there in October. You have said twice so far parking is 1000isk is this cash or card? WHat settings did you use for your timelaps, i think i may take my second body just in case..
@tonyjhughes23 күн бұрын
Definitely take a second body! I used S&Q mode on my Sony ZV-E1, but that was an error 😂 max 1s exposure time, bumped the iso and the videos are almost unusable! I would do 4/5s exposures with a 1s interval for Aurora, which I’ll do next time!! Don’t think we had cash once while we were there. Just used a card everywhere, pretty much everywhere is contactless, at least all the campsites, shops and car parks we went to were 👍

Thanks for this Tony! I tried a day to night time lapse last year on my A7iii using the in built interval app but the sky on my images got very overblown when it transitioned to night. Think I know what I did wrong now thanks to your explainer

A great vid showcasing, as you say, some of Scotland's epic locations. Love your enthusiasm! My favourite shot is the first one across Loch Tulla. That "quagmire and filth everywhere" at the Buachaille Etive Mor waterfall is erosion, caused by thousands upon thousands of photographers' footsteps (and tripod legs!😂). I'd encourage anyone that wants to photograph this iconic mountain to take the time to explore the area and find an alternative viewpoint (there are many). Anything but adding to the problem that's already there. I guess the other question to consider is, with thousands of images captured from that exact same spot, what can anyone really add to the story by photographing from there? (Although yours is a particularly nice one).
@tonyjhughes2 ай бұрын
I wanted to spend more time there on this video, but I wanted to try and catch some deer down the bridge of Orchy hence it was just a flying visit this time before we had to take the campervan back! I agree about not adding too much to the story from that particular spot, one for the portfolio I suppose. I guess I already know what the composition is going to be before I’m there, and I want to see whether I can execute it. More of a training exercise, I find I learn better that way.

Wow amazing! Any issue with the drone and the weather or birds? I still don't understand Faroese rules, they should have European laws by now....anyway do you thing a mini 3 pro could work there? or too much wind? sorry for all the questions :DDD
@tonyjhughes2 ай бұрын
Thanks!! Drone rules are pretty similar to the EU, check the app for restricted areas like the airport and there are some villages like Saksun where you can’t as you’re not meant to fly over villages. As for the wind, just keep an eye on the weather as it can change pretty quickly but yours should be fine. Just don’t fly it over the sea in a storm!!!
@mirkoema2 ай бұрын
@@tonyjhughes ahhaha ok thanks, will do! Which app do you refere to? Dji App? as there are no official maps for Faroe... I hoped something changed regarding flight near towns with EASA rules...but...seems no.

Depends on your style I guess. You’ll probably have to move your feet a bit more than I did (but I’m lazy 😅) I enjoyed a wider angle in the Fanal Forest (see my woodland photography video) and picking out details with a telephoto, but I think you’ll be OK.

Hi Tony while looking for reviews and photography in and around Luskentyre found your vlog Brill Liked and subscribed .( house keeping done ) so like you mentioned your self and other famous photographers spending time here and i can see why . looks fantastic and lots of landscape photo opportunities like your images' the one that got you wet feet with the blurry waves amongst the wind swept beach . my main question is where did you eat strange one i know ,where did you get food from every day , not like you can just nip to Tesco and you also mentioned hiring a campervan and more info on that would be most helpful , looking forwards to you next vlogs
@tonyjhughes6 ай бұрын
David I don't mind the ego boost of the housekeeping, much appreciated!! For food we did stock up on the Isle of Skye before we got the ferrry over, so did have plenty in the van. We also drove back over to Tarbert, there was a food van that I can't remember the name of which did some tasty grub. As for the van, we used Four Seasons Campers, definately recommend them. They're based just outside of Alexandria at the bottom of Loch Lomond. Left the car on their farm and simply went exploring in the van! If you want to get in contact further, just hit me up on any of my socials or website (links in description). Be more than happy to help were I can
