I was looking through channels I was subscribed to and saw this channel. I wanted to thank you Mr Nabifroese I had you as a high school teacher of mine at BHS around 2015/2016. You helped me get through highs school math and I really appreciated your videos when I was studying for finals.

My grandson brought up this problem about a parabolic arch under a railway bridge and whether a lorry can go through it. I did have a nice dinner but had to skip dessert. Anyway, your explanation has really put me in the right direction. He is finishing Year 9 Advanced Maths Extension(Australia) and somehow I have become his tutor in Maths and Science. I have subscribed and am going through your videos. Thank you.

Isn't the formula for lateral surface area of a prism L=ph? Pretty sure the correct answer is 546 for the first prism. Never mind I found lateral surface area ahaha your right 😂

hello! i am in grade 8, i have a question. You see, in rick and jenns exmaples, i was able to identify which was partial and which was direct, and i wrote the equation for each example. For rick i wrote y=4x and i was correct 🎉 but for jenn i wrote y=5x+1, while being confident. then i was surprised as i got it wrong. you wrote y=1x + 5. HOW?? doesnt it say that it charges 5 dollars for each hour snd plus 1 dollar?
@NabifroeseАй бұрын
It says 5 dollars plus 1 dollar per hour if I recall. So it's tricky because it is not 5 dollars per hour. The wording is tricky!! You are doing well though. Great question!

Is there an easy way without the calculator?
@NabifroeseАй бұрын
If you use a times table chart or if you know your times tables you can estimate what the side length will be. For example, if the area is 30 cm² you might remember that 5 * 5 = 25 and so one side will be approximately 5.5 or so. The calculator definitely is easier though!

Tks sir for your time however using figures is as simple as it is the matter of Algebraic calculation so please if you can change from Vertex to Quad form without figures.

Remember to follow the area formula in the correct order. The numbers in brackets need to be added first, then multiply the height, and then divide by 2. Cheers!

This video is garbage. Why does 4 = 2 ?? You litteralyndont explain that. You just solve it yourself then move on. Wtf
@elizaxo5308Ай бұрын
Okay but what makes it a 2?
@NabifroeseАй бұрын
In this case the number two was something that was chosen ahead of time. Any number could have been chosen.

What formula to use if the height is missing?
@NabifroeseАй бұрын
I'm not sure your situation but often the Pythagorean theorem/formula is needed to find the height. I have a video on that formula if you need it!
