What an interesting way to get into wrestling! It still counts as Verkerer by Meyer's standards.

Can you direct me to a passage that describes the thing? I am compeletly not familiar with Meyer but this is interesting :)
@suatkuran53234 күн бұрын
@@Druid_Ignacy Meyer doesn't describe it directly but with a play. "In the Zufechten, if your opponent goes up before you, then step and cut from your left with the short edge and crossed hands to or over their right arm; but with this Krumphauw, step well to them, reverse your sword, and wrench down to your right side. If they work upward with their arms so that you cannot force them down, then go between their arms with your pommel from inside; release your left hand from the haft, grip your blade, and wrench upward" It's the movement of changing edges like from long edge to short edge. Earlier glosses like Lew explain it differently but the logic is the same. "When you, with the initiation of fencing, have moved half way into it, move the other half forward toward the opponent over and over with the left foot in front and make a free rising cut from the right side after each advance in accordance with the left foot and with the cut invert and turn the long edge of the sword and as soon as you bind against their sword with that, Indes, hang your point in from above and stab them in the face. If they parry your thrust and rise up high with their arms, then rush through. But if they stay low with their hands during the act of parrying, then seize their right elbow with your left hand and hold firmly and spring in front of their right foot with your left and shove them over it like this."

Jokes aside, nice stuff, it's the first time I see a dynamic cutting competition like this. Usually I see a lot of event where the contestant is static and takes a lot of time to prepare. This is good as it shows how the weapon is still super effective even in a rush :)

@@frenchgalloglass Fencing is what parents told us not to do: run with pointy objects, hit others, always start it xD Hmm that's true. And these tubes were quite difficult to cut through, these were the harder ones. Not being pinned to a stand-up would made them fall off uncut if the cut was poor. I've seen once a cutting competition where you had to chase a target that was running away :D can't find it now but it was some american advanced cutting tournament with a lot of various challenges (that was one of them). Other interesting was to perform very small swing in restricted area but still cut through tatami.

One more thing, it seems that you guys use a lot of swords simulators and feders, and use a lot of bind techniques, any sword/feder recomendations for that kind of fencing?
@Druid_Ignacy10 күн бұрын
@@MarioTwinden well in the end you can do anything with everything with good training. And often creating good habits is easier with lighter sword, but if you're looking for more "realistic" sword, I would recommend Sigi King, Ensifer swords and Aureus. The last one has the smallest crossguard, which may be a drawback. What these have in common is wider blade with certain balance. But then again - when you look at winden from my previous longsword sparring session, the one that other commenting fecer pointed out, it was done with lighter sword from Poker Armory, so it is really a matter of training; as the guy who did this drilled different kinds of parries a lot before implementing this in combat.

While point of my sword in this video is clearly late, distance and landing the cut at the moment of crossing the legs is consistent with my following practice and practice of other longsword fencers who land simple oberhaw in combat. The other thing that could be done better here, is starting with right foot heel raised, or starting from step-lunge distance with a half-step for additional fluidity, as well as more frontal torso rotation.

@SalaCierzoHema I'm hardly interested in dramas, so I don't get it, but if you're curious I know a fencer, @Leonardo Salomão, who was able to land bicorno thrust from a feint in high stakes competition in Hungary. As for the swords - these are two different go-now swords edition, one is later, little heavier thou softer and with edges (at the begginning of the video we both use this newer version). Since then they've made even better ones, which have colored edges.

The little Hema drama was that the guard with the thumb on the flat and the blade in the low line (like a pflug but in the middle) to cover the hands was responsible for cuts with bad alignement . Thank you! Small point for limbs, doesnt stop fighting. Big point for torso and head, stops fighting. At the half time and end time every 3 small points are converted to one big. Only at that times fencers are informed about the score. There are no video challenges. Wrestling is allowed but without slams. Flat hits don't count. No flat hits and wrestling rules are rather standard in all Polish HEMA, however semi-continuous ruleset I have found very prone to exhaustion and injuries. And it facilitates much more ,,big-swingy-parry-riposte" like oldtimers like rather than Liechtenauer fencing.
