Let’s be real here. She had both a mother and a father. As strict as they were she still had guidance and lines established that kids and teens shouldn’t cross. She made something of herself In school but STILL wanted a thug bf to whisper sweet nothings in her ear and rob convenient stores for “fun” She had a chance and she blew it. I don’t feel sorry for her. She did herself a disservice. Hell even that drug dealer dude told her that she was better than this life and she STILL chose the wrong crowd. Nothing sad here. Just a gifted person who wanted to self destruct. I’ve seen it all the time.

The scene with Red and Nicki makes me cry so hard. I went through something similar with my chosen mom. My bio mom kicked me out to “motivate me” to be independent, but she was just sick of having me around. My chosen mom took care of me when I was curled on the floor crying in pain so severe it kept me up all night. Turned out I had vascular compressions, or veins that were pinched between each other that caused internal varicose veins and cut off almost all my circulation to my left kidney, all of which were caused by Ehlers-Danlos. My bio mom never believed me and was happy to leave me for dead. My chosen mom took one look at me and said, “you need help.” Anyone who has been in a position like this knows how much having a chosen mom like Red matters.
