What makes Ali's trash talk so special is that you always see him half-smiling while saying terrible things about his opponents, so that deep down you know it's just an act, it's all a tongue in cheek thing that you shouldn't take too seriously. It's kinda sad that Joe Frazier took everything Ali said about him at heart, actually hating him for quite a while. It was obvious that Ali played some mind games and surely did his best to sell the fights, but overall had a lot of respect for Joe and I think he really liked him. On the other hand, George Foreman never hold any grudge, he understood that Ali was a good guy and was just acting as a part of his public persona and self - promotion.

The man's brain, his mind, was incredible. Never at a loss for words. Always ready with a funny, quick response. You'd think it must be scripted but it wasn't. There is no telling what his IQ was. Moreso than that, he was the quickest boxer ever, with the quickest reflexes ever, and he had the quickest mind ever. The entertaining banter was like an extension of himself from the boxing arena to the conversation arena. He was quicker than everybody else, in the ring or sitting on a couch. Irony of ironies that Parkinsons attacked that mind, that brain, those reflexes. That was the worst disease Ali could have been afflicted with, exactly because it attacked the essense of Muhammad Ali.
