Loved the look of the black glaze on the clay. Did you add a layer of clear over the black or is the rest just unglazed?
@interceramics3 күн бұрын
Hey! So, the black glaze that is shiny is Spectrum's Satin Black. You might light that if you're looking for a shinier black! The two cups that are not shiny used Mayco's black underglaze. The inside of all the cups is Speedball's Champagne Quartz. No clear glaze on anything!

wow...What a craft. Loved it. Please tell about the Pottery machine.

Hi! I'm so happy you liked it. I used a "Pottery Wheel" to make and trim the cups. There are many different kinds of Pottery Wheels. The one I have used for years in the community studio is the Shimpo VL-LITE!

I may be stupid and/or dont remember but does it say anywhere if it puts off uvb ? Considering if this would be okay for a lizard in a terrarium or if i need an additional light
@interceramics14 күн бұрын
Hey, I didn't see any mention of that on the box itself! BUT I have seen a number of positive reviews from people using it for their terrarium!

After two years, Would you say that they are any better for plants than the LED panels?
@interceramics14 күн бұрын
I've used a panel and what I can say is that panels typically put off more heat than this would. Heat is not a huge factor for me because I keep the house pretty warm. It puts off the same amount of light coverage. For me, I prefer these to a panel!

But how do you remove the bowl from the clay?? LOL I am new and TERRIBLE at making anything. So far I've made the shallowest little dish that looks awful. It's a struggle for me.
@interceramics14 күн бұрын
I'm sorry I missed this comment! To be honest, I spent probably 10 minutes slowly prying the bowl away from the mold. When it was loose enough, I carefully flipped it upside down between my hands to allow the clay to "fall off" It was not efficient lol. Hey, keep at it! I started this channel just to practice and document my journey! I promise you'll get better over time!!

I seen many of your videos, it’s never a bad idea to take it back to square one. First while centering do not flatten your clay to cone again, the final with is when you are absolutely sure its center and your pat was not center. Push with your left hand and release by pushing down with your right. Question “ is someone in your community studio good enough to teach? I say that because pulling the walls is wrong, normally the way you doing it works only with small amounts of clay, bigger it’s too much friction o it gets of center and creates weak spots.

I'm very comfortable with not throwing or making perfect forms. I also have not made any large forms on the wheel. I've had plenty of instruction and take classes from time to time at the studio where I can have a more tactile learning experience. Improving my technique was not on my list of goals for the second half of the year. I'll consider it for next year though! This is a hobby and outlet for me, and I prefer to do what is comfortable and enjoyable.

I’ve seen a lot of people use art plaster, pottery plaster, and plaster of Paris. Your preference! (Or your wallets preference lol) Art and pottery plaster are not available newer me for pick up. I’ve made a number of these since this video and they work great!

Did you make the shelving? If so do you have the dimensions???
@interceramics14 күн бұрын
Hey, sorry I missed this message! Yes, I did make it myself. All with 2x2s. 4x6ft tall legs. 8x12in Side shelf spacers (between the front and back legs) These are spaced randomly to accommodate my plants. Spacing between the 6ft legs is 19 inches. Let me know if you want a quick video showing my measurements. You can adjust yours as needed.
