Thanks for sharing and having this particular scene for all of us to see and enjoy! This film is so unique and I purchased it years ago because of being a fan of both James Darren and Barbara McNair. This scene is very special IMO due to what he says to her character "Rita". The idea of a man's preference the "comfort" of a black woman's mouth, skin, and everything about her; is something very significant.

You're so welcome. And I thank you for actually picking up on why I chose this particular clip. I grew up watching both of these artists...Barbara McNair was one of the first (if not THE first) Black women to host her own variety show, and James Darren was a teen idol on TV and records. But in those days, their worlds stayed very separate. To have these two stars in this progressive film portraying lovers...well, you hit it on the head--it's socially meaningful to hear a white pop-culture romantic icon express his emotional and aesthetic preference for the beauty and "everything" of a Black woman. Glad to hear its a film you liked enough to purchase.

What a curio! Those lyrics are so bad, and yet Ms Kitt treats them like they're Kurt Weill! And that WIG! x

😂😂😂 My God...you nailed it with that song. The beat is great and so is the rhythm, but those lyrics! And Ms. Kitt is such a pro, she's COMMITTED to them. And don't get me started on the wig. 😬

Glenda was born to play this role. As an actress, some people found Glenda herself too much to handle, because of her intensity on screen.

I agree. She's my favorite Hedda Gabler. And any glimpse of her in action when she was a Member of Parliament certainly backs up any rumors that she was a force to be reckoned with. She rarely suffered fools.

I love James Caan, but he was miscast -- he isn't tall enough to have been a star basketball player in his youth. Even Jack Albertson is taller, as can be seen at the end of this clip.
