Thanks for the clear video. Hope you can help me out with this: I want to seam two panels of double bed jacquard together at their sides. Neat and preferably almost invisible from both sides. I thought of zigzagging through the hidden outmost ladder which is sandwiched between the two layers of jacquard stitches, but was kinda struggling with it. Any tips more than welcome!

I’ve been hand knitting and crocheting for a few years and had always been tempted to get a knitting machine, but the cost put me off as well as a belief that it was cheating somehow and easier! A month ago I decided to buy one. Silver reed SK280. Well I quickly realised it was far from easy and that the instructions it came with not brilliant. I’m autistic and struggle with learning new things due to slow processing and find written and verbal instructions much harder to take in, much preferring videos. I found out that I should have oiled the machine before starting and was successfully making rows, but tension issues and other things lead to many times what I was making would come of the needles and I was struggling to reattach the knitting as I have rheumatoid arthritis and shaky hands. It was quicker to restart the work regardless off what point I was at. I came across your you tube site and this video has been a god send helping me see and understand the mechanics of the knit and how to manipulate a piece which has dropped stitches. I have just successfully managed to reattach a piece in a fairly decent time. I’ve now subscribed to your channel and look forward to learning more. Thank you for such an informative and understandable tutorial 😀

I have a question… some knitting machines come with a double yarn feeder attachment. Wouldn’t that solve the problem of have to switch yarn each pass?

Ok mine doesnt use combs it has skates. But they dont work so great. Also this is not possible on my machine because my carriage dowsnt bring needles from out of work to working like yours seems to. I have to open every needle lay the thread on the latches and the latch resting on the e and then pass over.

What tension do I use for the main knitting. My instruction book doesn't indicate when to change tension. The first 3 rows kit OK but when I change tension & release the left plain button the 4th row jams up every time.

Do you have more on this i really want to learn more about lace cards using lace cards on a studio because what throws me the most is those curved arrows... i get confused... using a lace carraige that both stitches and transfers.

That's such a good way of getting an even cast off. Mine have always been just left to hang and as a result I've never or rarely left any neck edge single, because they are never even enough to be on show. Gonna give these a go!
