As a child of the eighties I am as a Halloween traditionalist. But I HATE trunk or treats I think they ruined halloween. Down in the south they do “trunk or treats” to get around “celebrating Halloween “ so they do it for their “fall festival “ so it is their Halloween celebration not Halloween technically. Here people will take their kids to neighborhoods to trick or treat but lots of neighborhoods have died because of the trunk or treat deal. I also don’t think that there is a limit to trick or treating my teenager still goes and if you show up to my door with a cigarette , beer and a costume and a bag I am gonna give you some candy.

I live in a rural neighborhood, the whole area is small towns and major rural area, and I live across the street from a church, so we don't pass out candy. The next town over is doing their big truck or treat in town. When we lived in Navy housing, I passed out candy, my kids went door to door. My now 30 yr old would help me with my now 18 and 17 yr olds, and people would all be like 'awww you're helping mom with baby brother and sister, dad must be deployed, here you can have candy too'. I've been to truck or treats, trick or treating at the mall, all 3 are fine with me, as long as the kids have fun. My 17 yr old would love to go trick or treating, but its frowned upon. She really misses it, I think because her 'last' year to be able to without it frowned upon was during the big P.

Maybe it's a child of the 80s thing, but I'm pretty traditional about Halloween night trick or treating around the neighborhood as well. I grew up in a very small town with only a few well populated residential roads, and we'd get dressed up and make our rounds at dusk. Now I live in a city with probably 60 times as many people, so I understand for safety things are handled differently. That said, I'm sorry, trick or treating in the afternoon, during daylight hours on a day that isn't necessarily the actual holiday lacks the spirit of the occasion in my opinion. It's too bad.

Speaking of an appreciation for GMM and Dustin, did you see the recent episode of Mythical Kitchen that interviewed Gaten? They did a "last meals" episode with him, which I enjoyed. He seems like such a good human. I know in the acting industry it's hard to always see through facades. I think he's a good one.

I just wanted to say, I'm proud of you my friend. I know how much you always strive to do vlogtober on a consistent, daily basis each year. While life happens and you got a bit derailed in recent years because... life happens and so it goes, you're nailing it in 2024. Props to you.

I promise I'm not trying to cast any shade on last year's dyer. Those yarns were lovely in their own right, but I think most of us will agree this year's Stranger Things yarns are much easier identified to the overall theme of the series. You can tell this dyer did their research or, more likely is also a fan. I look forward to seeing you show the full set next week. There's a lot of great variety overall.

My Blake demolishes upholstered furniture with his extra toes and claws. I've come to accept that. I love him more than having nice things. It comes with the territory. It's fine.

Our pets are surely kindred spirits. Julian, who is 4, has been very restless this evening about the wind blowing outside. We have similar weather to you today. Blake, my 13 year old, also part goat, is the kitty they use as a cautionary tale when they talk about cats and curiosity. He was a stray and has a strong food drive even now. I also have a pet rabbit and Blake has been known for eating bits of her hay that he finds... and getting sick because of it... but not learning a single thing from his mistakes. If I was not as vigilant as I am in staying one step ahead of his hijinxs, let's just say I'd have my doubts about him making it to 13. Ahh, the joys of being a pet parent. They're perpetual toddlers in small furry bodies.

Concerts are a blast. My husband and I went to a Halloween party as Jack and Wendy Torrance (The Shinning). It was fun.

What is that lipstick?? Last concert I went to was Lunatic Luau, 15 bands. Godsmack and Slayer were the headliners. Papa Roach, Pretty Little Liars, Testament and Halestorm are the only ones I remember. Then I had to drive the 5 hours home the next morning. OOOOOF I haven't been to a concert in almost 10 yrs.

I totally understand what you mean about rock concerts being a full body engagement kind of experience. The last rock show I attended I was sore for days. Worth it, but man, it reminds me I'm not in my 20s anymore 😅

There must be something about guys named Keith, because my brother's friend Keith is definitely the type with the self deprecating sense of humor whom everyone lovingly teases. Funny story, about 20 years ago when I was in school 3 days a week, I had two jobs, one of which was working in a small town video store. That video store was located in the second story loft of a convenience store/gas station. Because it was in a loft I could look over the wall next to me and interact with the employees downstairs, some of whom came up and covered the register for me if I needed a break, because I worked solo. Very Clerks-esque 😂

What a thoughtful package. I bought a bunch of Unforgettable Waves yarn a few years ago when Dollar Tree had several discontinued colors they were selling online by the case. So far I have made two good sized blankets. I still have two more cases. So that means I can knit or crochet two more blankets. The two blankets I've already knitted are super warm and a little like weighted blankets. Gray is my favorite neutral.

I get how you feel. I think you have to much going on with trying to prepare for surgery. There's a lot of worry there with work. That can zap the energy out of you. The yarn reminds me of Movie Marquee colors. We've only had an update from Bella this month. Love the squares.
