I think that call cancel button is actually MAD BL Lite CA, branded on TKs as Traditional. It's also used on newer Mitsubishi hydros.

Strange how these places are allowed to turn off the chime against ADA, wonder if they can just turn the volume down instead of off. I believe the MT Chime has a place where you can adjust pitch and volume with just a screwdriver

Eastern now uses PTL after GAL stopped making fixtures, correct? It appears this particular elevator is on an MCE controller. This could just be a design feature, but I notice on many generic elevator with GAL or PTL they use a slightly different CE display with more space in the margin to the left and right of the arrow and numbers.

They switched in 2018, so before. That display is typically used on GAL.

Sadly, in 4 years this whole tower will be pretty much abandoned and probably demolished since BNY (formerly BNY Mellon) is moving everything to the client service center on Ross St.

@@EWPA14 Yeah, but it's apparently really tough to turn into apartments, so I hope they find an anchor tenant to take it over soon. Maybe a tech company, but many of those seem to be moving to the strip district with the building of 1501 Penn Ave skyscraper. I've been trying to ride the elevators here, I think CompassPlus, formerly Lexan; but I doubt that will happen; maybe Doors Open PGH.

It's the controller/selector for 1960s-70s high-rise Westinghouse elevators. At 1 time there were many but as many of these high-rise Westies are getting modded there's fewer & fewer by the day.

Floor "L." These aren't visible from the "T" station, those 1s are Schindler MT.

Apparently this is the one of the toughest buildings to get into Downtown besides the usual 5Avenue Place, BNY Mellon, 525 William Penn, Steel Tower, PPG Place, PNC Plaza. I heard they have like a gaurd in the phone booth or something.

Pretty much all the remaining multi-tenant buildings in downtown are being turned into apartments such as this, Gulf, and maybe 11 stanwix.

There's several but not all. I haven't heard anything for 11 Stanwix. However 300 6th Ave. (fmr. GNC HQ)'s almost done being turned into apartments.

The ELD is probably my favorite type of position indicator. Otis used it in Europe for a while, don't know if they still do.

EPCO's Singpaore and WGH are some of their best fixtures. Not many in PGH now that I've seen. The ones at the Omni WP have a rare variant of Singapore on their COPs, but those might be modded to DD now. I believe I sent an e-mail.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news. But while it hasn't been confirmed by the Macy's themselves yet. There's presumed evidence that this store could be closing sometime in January. According to the herald-tribune article, they've reached out to one of the employees that worked here and said all the employees are not scheduled past January 16th. I have to say thats a big red flag that time is running out for both the elevators and these escalators here. And it's very unfortunate for how many jobs people would be losing.

As unfortunate as it is I'm not surprised, I'm surprised it didn't happen much sooner. The retail industry is not the same as it used to be & I haven't seen this store nearly as busy as I did in the past & this mall is doing poorly & slated for redevelopment too. I'm just glad I was here a number of times & rode/documented all the equipment, as this was 1 of my favorite department stores. But it's not like I really have a reason to come back here anyhow as the remainder of my family who lived in Sarasota now lives elsewhere in the state. I hope though Macy's will re-locate some of the employees to the UTC location, but otherwise yeah there will be a lot of jobs lost.

Cool! How does bottom-drive traction even work if the motors can't use a pulley-type system to balance the counterweight and car? When was Elevonic R-Series introduced and 411M discontinued?

It's still pretty much a conventional system where the cables are 1:1 or 2:1 (most likely 2:1 in this case) on top of the car, but when they go to the top instead of going directly to the machine it wraps around near the car in the shaft to the motor somewhere else other than directly above the car, in this case the motor is in the basement. The governor's still at the top though. The model switch happened in around 2016-17.
