Incredible player, but not a friendly guy by any means. Almost hostile and stand-offish.

Derek was a better fit in Dream Theater that Rudess has been in my opinion. His songwriting skills and style where more reminiscent of Kevin Moore than Rudess has been.

Always loved DS. His solos on ACOS and FII blew me away. (I rather enjoy FII, unlike some DT fans)

They showed us how to be complex and musical at the same time. Something not many theatrical bands can do as well.

Very personnel record for me. If Billy Sheehan in 2001 was my introduction for being a professional bass player, so this particular album and lineup inspired me to be mesmerised by a fusion music eternally. Never came back. Another dimension, another thoughtful and very intimate way of perceiving music. Derek, it was you who taught me a lesson of what a joy it is to be in a band. Your respect to all this amazing musicians throughout your solo career costs a million words. Cheers!

Hello Derek! My name is Ben. I am a huge fan of your KZbin channel and have been watching for quite a while. I play synthesizers too as well as classical piano. We have a lot of the same influences for keyboard, my top 2 being Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer. Anyways, I know you're probably pretty busy but, whenever you get a minute please watch this. Thank you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5XGgWZsfM6Hftksi=vwdj4JbMS-JfDIIN

in the background there is that iconic and amazing synth designed by John Bowen. I remember him releasing the software version of this on the Creamware Scope platform. It was an awesome design and still is to this day. Thanks Derek for all that you've contributed to the genre.

There was a subtle flex in the background with a John Bowen Solaris synthesizer. Did you see it... awesome players, awesome gear-- makes awesome music.
