Hello, I have an associates degree(ADN) in nursing from COTC. I sat down for the NCLEX but did not pass. I graduated towards the end of 2020. My final two semesters were practically ruined because of COVID. All my clinicals were moved to online. I personally do not feel competent enough to safely provide patient care due to the lack of hands on experience due to online clinicals instead of in person. That being said, I was interested in applying for the 4 year BSN program at Ohio State. Not only will this allow me to obtain a Bachelors in nursing, but also allow me to get a better education than what I had due to COVID. How easy would it be to get accepted into the BSN program since I have an associates already? Would my chances of getting in be greater? Thank you.

As a Hampshire student, Amherst was actually where I took the most off-campus courses. Mainly due to the strength of their Theater Department. And, that it was also geographically the closest campus to Hampshire's; and that Ivy League graduate schools would pay close attention to my GPA from there (and Smith, Mt. Holyoke & UMass), which was all VERY true. I took the next amount of off-campus courses at Smith (which also has a VERY strong Theater department & I ❤️'d hanging out in Northampton) and then UMass (has both VERY strong Theater & Cinema Studies Departments and the on-campus dining at UMass is indeed SLAMMIN') & then only one course at Mt. Holyoke (but it was a REALLY GOOD course) during my fourth year. And yes, I did also pursue a Five College Certificate in Queer & Sexuality Studies. 👍 THEN of course, all of my courses and the brunt of my academic work at Hampshire. I think Hampshire students tended to take courses ALL ACROSS the consortium because of the inherently interdisciplinary academic structure of Hampshire itself. No matter which of the other campuses I was studying at, there were at LEAST 2-3 other fellow Hampsters in my classes. Here and there I met Five College students in my Hampshire classes, but there DEFINITELY was more cross-over going the other way. I found (through a lot of interaction with Five College peers) that most students at the other four campuses found Hampshire: "weird & freaky" because of how "different" it was structured both socially and academically. The other thing about Hampshire is that since it's a VERY small campus community and is more isolated from the other four campuses (and like Soleil I'm from NYC originally), and that it's also the only college in the consortium that doesn't work on the traditional grading/GPA system, so I think those are the major reasons why Hampshire confuses students at the other campuses. 😁

I do not know how this got into my recommended list, but I am so glad it did. I am so encouraged to hear about this man's life and achievement. African American scientist,, art interest, socially aware, this is the kind of person our kids just need to be around. Thank you for putting this on, showing us at our best. I do not think he is unusual. I think there are many like him but his image is not the image we and the world get to see. Thanks again.
