evolution of a tune that creates a life of its own, overplayed if/when you have to, always works everybody knows the tune... even to the point other songwriters write about you cant pay me enough to play it anymore... a national treasure from an expanding age

I went to Air Force tech school in Wichita Falls , TX in the early 90''s. As a songwriter myself, the key of D is easiest for me, though I try to use them all, with the use of a capo, of course. I live with a spouse addicted to drugs, so it's been a while since I've written any songs. I think January 2019 was my last one.

Skeeter Davis claimed she wrote " you don't know me " with Eddy Arnold. Guess Eddy had a lot of collaborators.

Bill Mack wrote and recorded it. PATSY CLINE never sang "Blue". I have all Patsy Cline songs. "Blue" is not one of them!

What a lovely lady. She’s been my number one Soul singer for decades, only matched by Gladys knight. Anyone Who Knows What Love is probably the best record ever released. Thank you for this.

Elvis attempted many times to steal the rarest top talent Funk & Blues music samples from Rufus Thomas for his own selfish greed. Elvis is a sellout and thief.. his talent was fake and narrated for him. Thats why Elvis died fast at young age. Rufus Thomas lives forever eternal. Priceless Timeless he survive any crisis a true musical move maker with much more story to reveal

I’ve never heard this before. I totally believe her. Who knew that so many people would understand and relate to this song. Such a beautiful story on how this song came to be. I think everyone related to this song, there’s always that someone, somewhere who slipped away without ever knowing the deep feelings someone had for them. I’m 76 and at 15 I felt those very words and still do this very day. It’s one of those songs that understands and feels what you’re feeling…..even though it doesn’t know you…..❤❤❤

Phenomenal recollections of a masterpiece right before he and Huff became legends. Nothing but ultimate respect to Mr Gamble. Lot of music history in that interview, Dee Dee, Jerry Ross, Dells, Tempts, Madelyn Bell, Intruders, incredible.

Mr. Mack mentions a demo of the song, Blue, at three minutes. There are people swearing to have heard Patsy Cline singing this song, the thing/event actually existed on some obscure vinyl. Other than some Mandela weirdness...is it possible the recording became part of a collected batch of music, was pressed, and the shifting of business deeds became lost...Yes, Leann Rimes has sang the song.

I love the original folk version with Anita Carter singing it absolutely the best. Cash had a large record buying base built up for years and that's why his "pop" version sold so many records. After listening to the original version Johnny's version is hokey, The horns do nothing for the song IMHO. But that's just one mans opinion. And from what I was told Anita Carter came up with the melody and never got credit.
