Food is not going to get less tempting? I’m in my mid 40’s and already suffer from severe IBS as well as Kidney stones. Plus being broke. I’ve stopped drinking orange juice by the gallon each morning. No I don’t like pizza or cake any more. And the only reason I drink carbonate stuff is because it’s the only thing available. But I still try to avoid. Now pass me my cucumber and bell peppers 🫑 I want something to snack on

Well thats a bit of an oxymoron right there... you're questioning whether food is tempting in your40's, whilst stating you crave FOOD! 😉 IBS sucks. Kidney Stones suck! But you can help ease & improve those things with dietary help... 👍

yea I admit I do feel the crave to eat. But I don’t really care what I eat. I avoid coke because the carbonation really messes with me and later it feels like theirs acid in my throat. I really don’t care for beer or alcohol in general. I much rather have orange juice. But I’m still in the same situation with coke. Acid burning my throat later. When I go into shops the only thing they offer is expensive sweets that do t fill you up. So one day whilst i was going through a tin of boiled sweets like they were appetiser I got to thinking If I am hungry and I don’t care what I eat. Then what’s the cheapest mass produced healthiest thing I can get. And I mean actually get from walking out of the office door and into a shop. Answer is vegetables. On my desk right now (well not now as I just finished them.) is 3 cucumbers, 3 bell peppers. A packet of mushrooms. And 6 eggs. This counts as both snacks and lunch. I try to keep to about 1 a day over 3 days. (Mix it up a bit on the other two days.) For lunch I have 2 eggs mixed in a bowl with some cheese and bits of the vegetables. 2 mins in microwave to make a nice omelette Sometimes people just walk into my office and see me munching on a cucumber and ask if I’m on a diet. I find it’s kinda annoying because no I don’t consider that I am. I’m just eating food I like. Which has changed over the past 40 odd years.

@@MaxPSVR Fair play, never mind what people think. Sadly when someone is seen eating whole foods they tend to get judged as the world is mainly eating processed foods now! Plenty of fruits/veggies means you're getting lots of vitamins and fiber, and eggs are flippin' awesome! Full of nutrients, and packed with protein... Boom!

Hi, I don't have enough info to go on to be able to answer that! ☺ You could use my Free Calorie Calculator to get an idea of where you should be setting that... www.refocuscoaching.co.uk/free-calorie-calculator Also depending on your age, you should aim for between 1.6-2.2g of Protein per KG of body weight (or goal weight if you are obese), per day! And aim for 25g of Fibre a day and hydrate like a machine. Hope that helps a bit... 🤗

Hi. Not necessarily to hang out with, no… more like a semi-formal arrangement, like you’d have in a workplace when someone new starts. 👍🏻 Ideally someone that has completed the goal you’re after, or has already begun, so they understand what you’re trying to do and can offer advice and ideas… 👍🏻

@refocuscoaching
@refocuscoaching 2 жыл бұрын
@@ellenswartz7203 this is the part to try and reframe. I doubt you were ‘an idiot’, but yes maybe you “should’ve known better”, or “could do it differently next time”. Even in the worst situation, try and use the negative to learn something, turning it into a positive. Of course, this might be hard depending on how bad it is, so in the very worst case, hopefully you can find something positive later when reflecting on it. 🙏🏻 If your someone close to you, who you care for (like a child, partner, best friend) did that same thing, what would you say to them? Probably far kinder to others than yourself. If you’re able to think like that for them, try it for yourself also… 🥰👍🏻

WOW, thank YOU, I needed to hear this! I know this is true and don't really want to admit it to myself. At 61, I've come a long way over the course of my life and have survived three primary cancers, having chemo twice, '04 & '12. Coming from a family with a lot of cancer, I'm continually amazed that I am still alive. My intent is to live life fully each day. I have an adult son in fairly local city, four hours is close enough. My brother is nearby but we aren't especially close, busy lives. I've been feeling like I am in a rut, and I'm waiting for something to change. Almost signed up for a class at the local community college, a summer class, hoping to meet people. That didn't happen but I'm still looking for ways to expand my world. I have an 82 year old roommate who I've shared a place with since 2013. He's been incredibly good to me. And my best friend, Beth, is my home health care aide, coming over 5 days a week to clean and cook. She and my roommate are close also. We are like the 3 musketeers. The issue I am having is I'll get determined to quit smoking 🚭 cigarettes and even stop for 3 or 4 days, over weekends with holidays especially. Then when I just see Beth I want a cigarette!! I can't begin to tell you how many times I've done that. I started smoking cigarettes at age 11 so it's been 50 years now. Oh yeah, and the kicker is that I lost over 2/3rds of my right lung to the cancer. The tumor grew from the size of a nickel to bigger than a softball because I had to wait to have insurance. No one is doing biopsies for free. The tumor was discovered when I went to the ER for a kidney infection 3 months after I applied for SSDI for Major Depression. 7 months later I was approved and started receiving money, but Medicare takes 2 years to be awarded with the Disability. With the SSI program, available for people who didn't work enough to qualify for Disability but can no longer support themselves, Medicaid is automatic right away. I've never understood why it's set up that way, seems unfair to me! I would not have lost most of my lung if I could have had a biopsy and surgery. I know I am long-winded! Actually I am a writer, and I'm laughing at myself for spending so much time explaining so much! I just don't know what to do about smoking those damn things! Fortunately, my roommate doesn't smoke. He quit 30 years ago. As I said, he's very generous with me, and I've finally convinced him to not 🚫 buy me cigarettes unless I specifically ask. Beth is 10 years younger than me and wants to quit also but not as much as I do. Maybe I'm nuts to ask, but do you have any suggestions? Sorry for my long comment. ❣️✌️🥀
@refocuscoaching
@refocuscoaching 2 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thanks for sharing. You have worked so very hard to fight cancer and survive such a tough time! Some of those moments must have surely been the hardest many people would ever face. If you can do all that… surely you can be strong willed enough to quit smoking. Sounds like your closest friends will help. Perhaps you should ask your room mate to simply never buy you cigarettes again, not even when you ask. Saying no in that moment might be enough. If you can hold out for a few weeks, you can break it! And perhaps Beth can give up with you as she wants to quit? Maybe you can both do something together for distraction… Best of luck with it!! 🙏🏻
