Why is it underneath there and not on top so it’s exposed to sunlight?

Drop your landing gear. Leave both release all spring brakes and idle. Or chock wheels and release breaks

You sir, are a genius! It's cold as f**k and my Espar heater decided to malfunction. I called my company shop and asked how I could override the idle shutdown. They said it was a dealer issue and if I want I can get a room. I CAN'T GET ANYWHERE DUE TO ICY ROADS! AM I TO FREEZE TO DEATH?! He said call 911. So I did what you explained and viola!! I'm sleeping warm tonight!!

Ambiant air temperature sensor. Yes throws a fault code and a abs light which is a dot violation. Don't do this. Used to be located on front bumper behind grill. There are other ways where you don't have to disassemble the truck. I. E. On the dash you can adjust it as well. This video is for people that have no idea what they are driving appearantly.

If it was that easy then people wouldn't have to resort to this. Hmmm maybe just maybe it's not as simple as you say. For example some companies disable the engine idle adjust so you can't adjust it
@stevenliberadzki9160
@stevenliberadzki9160 2 жыл бұрын
@@R.O.T.C._SEEM ahh ya. They adjust it so the pto time is not in excess which resolves in after treatment faults and premature dpf replacements. For every hour of pto it is equivalent to 1 mile driving. So imagine a truck has say 500k miles. Add 100k pto time. That's and extra 10k miles. An if an owner want to make it so drivers cannot idle at all usually we change the setting on how often the truck want to naturally regen to combat the quicker the truck will accumulate soot. But, what do I know.

@@stevenliberadzki9160 but how does a driver change that
@stevenliberadzki9160
@stevenliberadzki9160 Жыл бұрын
@@jaytayGO there are ways if you're an owner operator besides using the oem software to adjust it. I hate to say it but drivers will use wheel chuks then just simply release the brakes on the tractor. Tractor will not shut off then. But idling a unit for long period of times causes minimum 10k in premature maintenance. 10k is just the dpf or dpfs depending if you have a 1 box or not.Freightliner will out any.motor a customer want in the unit. From a mack volvo to a cummins.i highly suggest going through software because then the unit will go through a regen to attempt to keep soot down. Best option for overall truck health.

Good info. I actually tried this on a 19 peterbilt and didn’t work. Mine didn’t plug in. What I did was cut the wires and took a volume knob out of an old radio. These are called potentiometers. It’s just like when you dim the lights in your house while that knob you twist back and forth. Anyway these generally have three terminals on the back. I did trial and error and found the two terminals of choice and soldered the wires on and put a plug on the other ends so I can hook up the old sensor when going to the shop. I will back up to two terminals of choice. Everytime I moved the wires from one to another I turn the knob and look on the dash. Do this until you control the dash outside temperature reading. I needed to be above 70 degrees for it to always idle. Lol, I set mine to 183 degrees just for a laugh. When I say trial an error, put one wire on one terminal and the other on another. Turn know and if no change on dash temperature then change them around till it works. You will get a check engine light. If you find out the truck goes in the shop for a pm then hook the old one back up a couple of days or one day before. Starting and stopping the engine makes the computer cycle and with enough cycles it will see the problem is fixed and the check engine light will go off. Hope that helps some of you. I’m sure not all trucks are the same. Just like one guy saying this video didn’t help him or his wouldn’t idle. It’s all how the truck is setup. Remember this before leaving negative comments to anyone with videos like this. They are trying to help just like me. Thanks
