The only mistake here is coloring the captain cabin and stern lamp gold. Please do more research, it's not gold, it's an oxidized copper which has the same color as statue of liberty

I aspire to build one of these just like you did. Could just watch these all day. How did you glue the wire?
@TomGrigatКүн бұрын
I'm happy to hear you like my little experiment. The wire was soldered not glued.

What tools did you use to be able to bend the wires so accurately?

Two pliers and the plan as a base. Nothing else.

Hi Tom, What colours were used to paint the wings and fuselage of the F-86F SABRE please?
@TomGrigat4 күн бұрын
I worked with alclad II. You can see the specific kind of colour in the video clip. Please navigate to the paint action and get the number of the text. Best regards, Tom

Hey Tom! This work is incredible I’m in the process of building one of these kits for an artistic project and want to upgrade some of the parts like yours. Would you mind sharing where you got your rigging prints from and cannons? Or if you own the file do you share it?
@TomGrigat7 күн бұрын
I'm happy you like my design. Here's the link to the cannons: cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/bordkanone-fuer-piratenschiff-black-pearl-1-72 . The other stuff will follow soon...

Finally, a wood and metal model, I prefer wood, metal, and glass materials for windows, and every part of the model isn't plastic, it's actual made of real materials almost like they'd like use for the real aircraft. It just would look so cool to see a fully detailed aluminum with a detailed cockpit and interior B-17, or just any 1930s-40s aircraft.

@TomGrigat18 күн бұрын

I understand the need for keeping viewers interested by not having really boring long drawn out building segments, but sometimes the speed it up stuff is not good either like you can't really see what you're doing. I would suggest maybe for me and this is only speaking for myself, I would prefer some more slowed down parts where I could actually see what it is you're doing because some of it goes by so fast, you can't really see what you are doing anyways I appreciate that as someone who has done animation, you are doing amazing work with your videos. Keep it up.
@TomGrigat18 күн бұрын
Yes, you describe exactly my problems with the animation. Currently I'm in some sort of orientation how to find a nice way to show my work and how to get the most out of it...

Went to a naval history museum recently, and THIS model is better than anything I saw there. Also noted that in the museum the older exhibits are typically more detailed, more precise & better finished than modern ones. Thinking also of the historic times these full size rigs were made and used, the astonishing complexity of rigging - which was organised by men with only muscle power & spoken orders, no cranes, no computers. Plus in this case the other context being movies with big budgets & 1000s of talented crew... But THIS is just one guy!? I'd like to know Tom's daily routine, what he has for breakfast, etc. I need some of that creative genius & relentless perseverance!!
