I can well understand why, as a little girl, my mum never liked the boat trips over to Liverpool. No stabilisers.

Some tremendous footage here. With modern technology they could improve the Quality AND add Colour. 😆

Awesome! Is Mrs Maddrell really this fast, or is this due to the film? I card, comb and spin, but will never achieve her tempo! Thanks a lot for sharing.

Thank you so much for sharing these films. My father was from the Isle of Man. He would have known all of these places and would have been able to tell me all the stories about them. I wonder if one of those cottages was his mother's. I wish he was still here to tell me. He would have loved watching this. What a beautiful place.

The Travelling marshal is Bertie Rowell, a former MGP rider, the machine is probably an Ariel Square 4

Thank You! For those of us who try to preserve "the old ways", it is wonderful to actually see techniques used - not just to learn from modern methods. Marty Mc

Thanks for letting us see this old piece of film! I found it fascinating. I noticed she is using what I have always thought of as a Shetland style wheel, where the brake band goes across a string between the two maidens. I do hope it is the old style film that is speeded up a bit - she doesn't really card THAT fast does she? THanks again - Amanda (ADHUK)

The second steam packet boat seems to be Ben-my-Chree or Lady of Mann. The final shot is either St Seriol or St Tudno of Merseyside & North Wales Steamships, probably returning to Llandudno on a day trip

Wonderful. It is almost certainly right after the war. I could be in this film, sitting on my father's shoulders in the crowd on the opposite side of the road.
