When I texture paint the face and go to x ray, it turns my model into a transparent wireframe, instead of what's shown in the video. I made sure it's using viewport shading. Any advice?

this tutorial is for people who are a bit more versed with blender . i'd recommend watching Joey Carlino's "blender for beginners" videos (specifically the one with an island and house on it and the one with a cafe and bike infront of it)

Does anyone else have issues with Mirroring objects? I can Mirror the half object for face and torso but when I try and mirror an exact object for the legs and ear nothing happens. I tried auto mirroring, using an empty plain but I just want it to where I can simply mirror how this guy does it and nowhere on the internet seems to have the exact answer.

Apologies if this is a silly question but Im genuinely already lost from the beginning!! How did you subdivide modifier it then edit all of the edges of the shape, then delete the modifier without returning the cube to its original shape???
@lacruzo

You need to apply the modifier, not delete it. I used the shortcut (ctrl + A) while hovering over the modifier, sorry if that was confusing

Maybe its just me, but during the inset part if it doesn't look properly proportioned, its because you need to apply all transformation by going into object mode, select the machine and pressing ctrl + a and press all transformation. vaguely remember this problem in the donut tutorial when making the bent sprinkle

I'm surprised by the number of nodes you've used to enable toggling between the various faces. You should be able to do it all with just a few Math nodes, could you not? Just take two Value node inputs `X` and `Y`, compute `floor(X) / numFacesHorizontal` and `-1 * floor(Y) / numFacesVertical`, then feed those directly into one single Combine XYZ node before sending it to the Mapping node. Is there any reason why what wouldn't work? I've never used Blender before, but I _have_ just finished two university courses on Computer Graphics and Game Engine Development; that's probably how I would do it if I was writing a shader. Doing it all with just math would let you support arbitrarily many faces both vertically and horizontally, and would require waaay fewer nodes in the long run as you added more faces. The way you're currently doing it means that every single face requires a new Greater Than node, Mix node, *and* Combine XYZ node, and it also requires that you do all the offsets yourself. That's a lot of extra work! (what if I have a grid of 7x2 faces? I don't want to have to count upwards by 0.142857 for each subsequent Combine XYZ node). You could even make the `numFaces` values be inputs themselves, which would let you have a dynamic number of faces (e.g. you wanted load/swap out to a different palette of faces at runtime). Again though, I've never used Blender lol. Hopefully I don't sound too judgy. Just hoping my computer graphics skills are transferrable enough to not be totally off-base here 😛 Thought it couldn't hurt to ask! 🙂 I love your art style!

Hello 👋 i have just bought xp pen tablet and having a difficult time to set it up properly. For example, i see your pen works very well on the screen while in my case when i hover over the screen of the tablet with the pen the cursor appears at a distance of my actual hand position. Do you know how to adjust it so the point of my pen would be precise with the cursor on the screen. I would much appreciate it, please.

sounds like you might need to calibrate your display in the xp pen software if you haven't already done so
@olgayampolskiy7367
@olgayampolskiy7367 9 күн бұрын
@lacruzo uf, I done it! I figured it out finally. The problem was that the calibration does not always appear when you extend the PC or laptop display instead of duplicating it. The calibration option disappears then. BUT! You have to choose a second display in the option of the scroll-down menu on the screen page of the xp pen driver app and then it works! Just leaving it here for anybody who may need it 😅

I wanted to say, I love this video so much. It's inspired me to pick up 3d modeling and blender to use for short animations and stuff to go along with my music that i produce. I just have one question and I would love if anyone could reach out and possibly tell me what im doing wrong. When it comes to UV Unwrapping, I'm having a lot of difficulty with texturing and position and unwrapping. Like ill think my uv wrapping is all done and then ill start painting, only for a certain face or faces to wig out as i brush over them, then i look at the uv wrap and notice that theres a small island of texture either overlapping or completely separate from my big model pieces. Am I doing something wrong with my unwrapping process? I would really appreciate the help!

very clear and good explanation! i've been meaning to look into this, but the other videos i've seen have looked too long so i hadn't gotten to it... i usually just model facial features to have my characters emote, but this is a good technique to have under your belt too. now the only thing i wonder about is how lowpoly vtubers have 2d texture faces connected to their program of choice, since the unity pack used for creating vtuber and vrchat models expects shape keys, not armature changes for the expressions...

this is a pretty good tutorial for all the steps necessary, but the thing i found myself struggling with is the amount of small adjustments you did in the model creation part, it was hard to follow because i didnt know whether it was necessary to do these small adjustments because i barely knew what they did. Also the loop circle tool is broken in blender 4.0, idk why it really doesnt look the same in the video Good tutorial overall though!
