I've always been impressed by the conservation and trail design of the Lake County Forest Preserves. It's one thing for the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and other federal agencies to protect vast wilderness areas in the West that were never developed, but it's another thing entirely for a local agency to perform the kinds of ecological preservation and recreational services that the LCFPD pulls off in the heart of the Chicago suburbs. Thank you all for doing what you do!

Although the music wasn't synced too good to their movements, it was a good choice to go with that step, bob, step of theirs.😂 Animals are a lot of fun!

I wish you would have elaborated about the basil oil. Like what that is where to get it and how much to mix. U wereso close but missed the mark. And that is a stupid aplicator. Theres lots of applicators ready to use.

What would you rcommend for a tree that has already been cut? I have a buckthorn problem, but I didnt really know what I was dealing with until I cut a few of the larger ones down so I could actually get into the area and see what the situation was. I know now that I shouldn't cut any more down until I have some herbicide to treat the stumps with, but what about the ones I already cut down? I did cut them quite high up, so each stump is maybe 12" tall. If I recut them close to the ground and apply herbicide, will that work? Should I wait for them to start sprouting again?

im not a pro, just a regular buckthorn killing kinda guy. herbacide gets applied within 5 mins. after 30 mins then re-cut the stump. dont get to close to ground because soil with weaken the juice. keep up the good work. best done fall winter

Winter is a great time to enter your woods to treat buckthorn I like to apply the triclopyr oil mixture to the bottom 1 foot of the tree trunk No need to cut the tree down Make sure to target the berry producing buckthorns in your wood first And remember don’t cut buckthorn down unless you treat them with herbicide cutting does not kill the tree Cut stump treatment is best but if you have a big woods the spray and leave standing technique is fast and effective for the larger trees

with the grandaddys the bark turns inward protecting the phloem. this is such a stubborn evil plant. cutting them down is beyond any doubt effective.. thanks Bob

Why triclopyr over glyphosate?
@Youtubeuser-sh3xs
@Youtubeuser-sh3xs 10 ай бұрын
Triclopyr has better results on trees and shrubs for the most part. Glyphosate still works though and is better if you want to replant in the area

Use of synthetic chemical herbicides is despicable and harms the very ecology proponents of "conservation" claim to wish to protect. Such practices are intolerable and must be stopped.

I dont know if you restore the farm field wouldn't invasive species take over like queen Anne lace or teasals? Good idea maybe the plants will be more tolerant to heat.
