Our house plaque says "Circa 1884" which is when the school house was refurbished and rededicated. However, the original building dates back to 1815. Judging by the looks of this old school bell that came with the house when we bought it in 1971, I believe it has survived since the original date, which means it has been sounding for more than 200 years!
