What? So, it is easier to do things with more time. Wow, what a fucking revelation. Everything else is assumption, which is what morons do. So, being poor and uneducated has nothing to do with it? People spend all their time on their phones because their parents who at one point didn't have this problem, didn't do a good enough job. People are what they are taught to be, by parents and experience and society. People aren't dooming themselves, they are taught to do it by those who taught them to do so.

this video actually changed my life. because of his comment on counting days I realized the mind relates that number and aa coin with a reward activating the dopamine system and making the individual complacent thus they relapse. when you stop counting you don't trigger that release and your in a never ending pursuit of that goal thus using that dopamine system as intended. to push you towards a goal not be the celebration at the end. I didn't like him when he said it back then that still didn't mean he was wrong. he was spot on.

This is where your technique does well. But with an open mind, could you see where it would go wrong? If someone is in the beginning stages, they might count 1, 2, 3 days and relapse. And they might think: "since its day zero again, I might as well go all out, since it doesn't matter." When that's clearly not how it works. But you are allowed to share what worked for you. Great accomplishment btw!

This is good advice, but not for all people. Alcoholics, for example, often learn to accept "I am an alcoholic. I am an addict." And it's also a valid way to treat addiction. Whatever works for you might work for other people, which is why it's important to share, but also remind yourself it's not the ONLY way!

Could they be two sides of the same coin? Since the fall of man, we have this thing called concupiscence, which is an inclination to evil. It is a temptation to constantly fend off, however it is not - properly speaking - our nature, it is a wound on our nature. We are created good, and Jesus will, God willing and us cooperating with His grace, restore us to goodness and even give us glorified bodies. No sin, or effects of the sin. When I realized what tempts me is not what defines me, when I learned to separate that out from my identity, it was a game changer. But we must distrust self and trust Christ. Not only because of this our condition, but in general because we are limited but God is not. He is the only one truly good, fully, lacking nothing, and omniscient. Meaning He knows what is best. We do not.

@@moritzkorsch9029 I don't like how psychology treats everything as a problem of own satisfaction. Even if you focus on long-term happiness, what if involves hurting other people unduly? I may be happy, but I'm not good. But I am convinced that eternity is the real long-term. So maybe it might be better to suffer some now rather than later. I certainly think so because I am certain God is real, I do believe in His plan. Meaning people have a purpose that is not just there for their own sake, as if the only reason we should love others is for ourselves to feel good, but for other's sake as well, sometimes even to our own detriment (albeit only perceived and - God willing and us heeding - temporary).

Another huge tip for addiction is that we see the world through a story. You need to identify what character your playing and the traits. There's gonna be a negative view that you came to about yourself as a child. Vaguely like I'm dumb, not worthy of love, ugly, or just a sense of some type of inferiority. It's hardwired into your subconscious and it's the autopilot that runs 24/7. Once you identify that and change it, everything else changes. It's possible to do without but it's hard, with psychedelics it allows that program to be released so you can put a healthier more accurate view of yourself. Your brain then hardwires it. Also forgive yourself and your parents or family who caused it. You were young n dumb, as children we personilze everything. So instead of realizing your parents were dealing with stuff, you conclude that something must be wrong with you. Then when anything positive tries to manifest itself, your brain dismisswa it. Which a lot of the times is in the form of self sabotage.i haven't tried it myself, but you can also heal through psychedelic experiences induced by darkness. If you go into a room that's pitch black, no uv rays coming thru at all. Stay there. around 3-5 days in visuals start happening and you re-experi2nce old events your holding onto. Allowing you to see it from a different perspective and release the pain from the old/wrong conclusion you came to the first time.

I agree with the initial point you make. We define ourselves by the experiences we have not by the person we are. Someone says to us we are a horrible person for many years it doesn't mean your horrible it's just the person who saying it who thinks you are. It's not truth, it's subjective to the other person perception of reality which is also flawed massively just like ours is. We don't see reality for what it is, we see it for it what we want or hope it to be or what we think it is such as the world is against me, or I'm not worthy of love which is nihilistic thinking. If we can take a step back like we are watching ourselves watch ourselves live we would see things in a different light. It's like the phrase, "treat yourself like someone you love." We don't see reality but become the reality of what we think, "as a man thinketh so is he." We have as individuals great power to manipulate our reality as we experience it by the thoughts we think and actions we take. As thoughts shift a different form of our reality takes shape like turning on a light, or the sun rising slowly over the horizon. The thoughts we think and end up believing become us like Bruce Lee said, "you put water in the bowl it becomes the bowl, put water in a cup it becomes the cup." We become what vessel we put ourselves in or tell ourselves we are.

I came to this conclusion last year, thought it was an original. Now I'm wondering if I seen this. I guess even if I did it don't make a dif. It's true, and I dismissed it until I came to the same conclusion myself. It would be beneficial to stop doing that. There's a quote that goes something like idiots never learn, smart people learn from their mistakes, and geniuses learn from other people's mistakes." So true .
