At 36, he had 42 goals (his third highest goal total) and 52 assists in 82 games, nearly dragged a bad pens team into the playoffs and was in the Hart discussion. He was 12th in scoring this year. He made his 10th all star game appearance this year. All of this with the worst PP in the league. He also tied (technically he broke) Gretzky with 19 seasons of at least 1ppg (Crosby has 19 seasons over 1ppg), got 1000 assists and passed phil esposito to break into the top 10 points scored all time. He was voted “Most Complete Player” by his peers for the 5th consecutive time. There were wild trade rumors to send him to winning teams because the Pens were so bad. But yes…he deteriorated.

He may have been a great prospect but whatever skills he has haven't translated to the NHL at all. He looks like some scrub drafted in the 6th RD vs. the sixth player taken overall in his draft. Zadina is the Poster Boy for why the NHL has WAY too many teams. If there were just 24 of them like there damned-well ought to be Zadina wouldn't be on a Top-Two line in the AHL.
