This is an excellent compilation of the major Rogue W&S rapids. Thanks! (I will be sharing this one for sure.) :-) Most (experienced) folks I know find the class ratings (based on average flows) very arbitrary. They can vary quite a bit depending on the flow rate that day. As always: Safety First! + Dress to Swim... Rig to Flip! ;-)

Hey, great to see you teaching the kids how to fly fish. That is so awesome. Please make sure you teach them the correct way to release the trout so they will survive. I understand there is a bank there and you don't want them to fall in, but in that case you can show them how to correctly release the fish by showing them.

Went down these rapids in an inflated kayak, fell out in the middle of every Class 5 rapid. The guides did not appreciate the humor I found in it. My favorite whitewater excursion.

true story: i was kayaking tandem with my father when we flipped on one of these rapids; i was getting bashed up in the water and could barely catch a grasp of air! all of a sudden this hand reaches down under water and grabs my life vest and pulls me ashore. dunno who the guy was but what an angel. i was on the other side of the river from the party but someone brought me across. they were a little further down from where the man probabably saved my life.

You’re one of the only catarafters who video their runs on here that I feel paddles and aims the raft the right way, or at least the way I would. Smaller boat too! Looked like fun. Did it you get through it in one day?

I'm doing this float in July. I was going to do it with my packraft but your video talked me out of that possibility.

One of the best, fun rivers to run. Highly recommend Orange Torpedoes if you want to do this river with professional guides, staying in cabins.

@ryanbrockmiller16483 жыл бұрын
I have a old guide book and his ratings pretty much match it. Looks like he was running it at high water. When you run it in late august when I can be as low as 900 CFS. Most of those rapids are rock gardens with only one way through them. They can be pretty technical

Good video. But I think your ratings on some of the rapids where a bit generous. Honestly, the only class IV"s are Ranie Falls and Blossom Bar. Everything else is class 2s and 3s.
@pancakeface57174 жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends to some degree on water level, who's rowing (skill level), and what they're rowing (drift boat vs cataraft vs self-bailing raft, etc.
@ryanbrockmiller16483 жыл бұрын
@@pancakeface5717 it 100% depends on water level. When the level gets really low most of those rapids turn into rock gardens that only have one way through them. They can be pretty tricky. The only nice thing with low water is it moves slower.

We have 11.5 foot Skykomish pontoons. Would recommend doing it before June when flows can get to low :) although could do it in a kayak because none of the rapids are to difficult in the Oregon section.
