I liked your review very much. I liked that you acknowledge the director , the music composer, the actors, and mention of the one humor scene. I’ll definitely stay tuned for more reviews!

It was never an issue of payment with Robin Williams. Robin voluntarily agreed to less money because he wanted to be in a Disney animated movie and be part of something that his kids and kids in general would enjoy for the future. Robin had the fallout with Disney because he had an agreement with Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was then heading The Walt Disney Animation Studios. Robin’s agreement with Katzenberg was that Robin didn’t want to be personally publicized as being in the film. Robin was already attached to star in Ferngully: The Last Rainforest. Jeffrey Katzenberg resented that his star actor did not want to be officially publicized with the movie, and that Robin was starring in Ferngully, at all. Katzenberg wanted Disney to have a monopoly over Robin Williams and his talent. So, in direct defiance of Robin’s decision, Katzenberg publicized Robin’s connection to Aladdin all over the place. Robin was hurt and angry and I believe did not work with Disney again, as long as Jeffrey Katzenberg was with the company after Aladdin.

This movie is not as classically done as some other versions. But it is very representative of the uniqueness of US culture in the 1990s. Siskel is correct. The 1990s was awash in hyper-attention and hyper-vigilance towards gangs and gang violence. That means large chrome or nickel-plated pistols.

In "Big 2" things get really dark. Josh keeps looking more and more like his kidnapper the older he gets, driving his mother insane.

I loved Siskel and Ebert. 2thumbs up meant it was a good movie. 1 thumb up was a maybe good movie. 2 thumbs down meant it was bad. (Not ALWAYS true, but mostly.) GAttaca is one of my favorite movies.

Jack was badly scripted but I think Coppola and Williams certainly had the ambition to make a good movie. I do remember liking Peggy Sue Got Married and remember it being among my favorite non-Godfather Coppola films.
