These videos being available to the public are an incredible resource and such an important work in revitalizing and preserving Cherokee. I wish more speakers and learners would watch and share in the comments. Wade is a great teacher and learner, learning alongside is a great pedagogical strategy.

I believe we’ll find that ᎦᏚᏱ Gaduyi is a Cherokee transliteration of Bethlehem. The word appears several times in Matthew 2 and each time corresponds with the English version’s Bethlehem. . . since “b”, “th”, and “h” are sounds that are not in Cherokee, and “m” sounds are often not privileged this would make since. Also, Cherokee transliteration often does not attempt to match phonemically.

Great series. I'm listening to them multiple times until I get them down though to be honest. It's helping my comprehension. Now I know why ujetsdi rolls over and plays dead lol. Poor ujetsdi, at least he's smiling

This was an interesting episode and always welcome to learn through song-particularly songs with a history. The origins of this German folk song go all the way back to Napoleon. Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecke, Drei Ecke hat mein Hut, Napoleon soll verrecke, Mit seiner blech'ne Schnut. Later versions that became popular were almost a verbatim translation of the Cherokee version that Wade teaches here. Song online instructions teach the action song with following movements: my - point at yourself with your index finger hat - touch your head or the imaginary brim of your hat three - stretch out three fingers corners - touch your elbow with your hand not - shake your head

I'm Cherokee on my grandma side, I'll never forget the time she was yelling at me in Cherokee she was full blooded. I have no idea what she said, whatever she said I replied yea whatever you said lady and she knocked me on my ass. So now I would like to learn my language since I do have Cherokee blood. Plus I never want to make that mistake again.

Siyo from Eucha, both my wife and i really enjoy the lessons, we're learning however usganoli we're still learning, I listen to you on my walks around the old Eucha school area and just wanted to say ᏩᏙ. One question after you say Tsadagasesdi Donadagohvi which I know the meaning (take care until we meet again) but I can't find either the spelling or meaning of the last word you close with, Idisquada or edisquada. I believe you're saying we are done/finished...yes/no? Wado.
