What time is the best time to board the ship

We sailed on Beyond in The Retreat during the week of last Thanksgiving.... The best cruise experience by far we ever had. First Class in every way and the attention to detail impeccable. Staff know you by name, have your favorites daily in your suite. Luminae staff know you preferences and bring them daily. Yes, you are paying a premium, but totally worth it. Our Concierge always knew our expectations and delivered. We are booked on the second sailing of Xcel this November and so excited!!!

Are there any opportunities to share a table with others in Luminae or does everyone just keep to themselves?

We are sailing on the Celebrity Infinity in June 2025. The Classic drink package is NOT included.

I can’t believe grown adults actually book a room based on others grieve.. took many cruises and thankfully all over our friends and family would never do this… I know several people that have been late due to emergencies… I know several people doesn’t know about ship time and our last few cruises they haven’t even mentioned this… aI just don’t think it’s funny… Sorry my opinion

Trip advisor it is a great resource when you’re traveling. There is also tours companies with reviews by travelers. I did used some on past cruises and haven’t regretted. I did a Roatan tour (private) for $25 per person on a/c van and we went to different places and to a great beach. I was even able to do snorkeling for free over there. I have seen a lot of videos for Costa Maya, people just take a Taxi at the port, tell them where they want to go(mostly tequila, chocolate tour and to the beach) for $25-$40. And they have had great experiences. In Cozumel I have my person(taxi at the port) when I need him I contact him in advance and enjoy my tour.

If I was in charge of that cruise ship, from all the late passengers (not ship sponsored tour ofc) I would subtract 100 bucks from their drinks account to go to all the other passengers account swho were onboard in time.

If it’s a cruise ship excursion then they will wait or cover costs to catch up but if not you’re on your own

I've got to book a trip on Beyond. Period. Unfortunately, my dog sitter is booked through most of 2025. Perhaps the first part of 2026 I can do it.

Went for a concert and I was completely unimpressed. I've been to Vegas, Reno, Cripple Creek CO and Albuquerque and it was so far below par with all of them that I was shocked because locals seem to think it's great. Sad for them. For the hotel, I have never seen the rooms, so that was nice to see anyway. Just outside is Wahlburgers and Red Rose - both really great and much more reasonable than anything inside MGM. Another great place to eat if you have a car or don't mind walking a few blocks is the Student Prince. But a word of caution: Springfield is NOT a safe town to walk in day or night. Frequent murders - shootings and stabbings and a rash of weekly, apparently deliberate hit-and-runs leaving many people dead, I would not walk around there. Just another big, angry city breeding hatefulness to avoid. I agree with your assessment except that, compared to everywhere else I've been, I don't think the casino and inside restaurants even deserve a 5. You are generous, Tom. All in all, not worth a trip to the casino alone.

Mhmm I wonder, I went on Norwegian in Miami and they allowed us to carry our luggage around the ship so we didn't have to wait for it. When I went on the Norwegian in NYC, they insisted on taking our luggage and it wasn't an option to pull it around the ship!

This is missing the most important tip. Go on non cruise line approved excursions at your own risk. Yes the cruise ones are more expensive but they have to by contract get you back to the boat on time. If you book something separately you’re on their time and they can’t drop you off close to the ship in some cases. Most ship runners are the people that decided to book something separately not realizing the time they say they get back to the port does not factor in the time it will take for you to get from the drop off point to the ship which In some places is a 20 to 30 minute walk.

My daughter and I did a 10-day euro on Ascent and ate in Luminae every chance we got. Always fantastic food and service. Those prone to seasickness should take note, on Ascent, Luminae is top deck and forward and can be quite rocky in weather. Beyond Luminae, I can't say enough for the private decks on Ascent for Retreat passengers. The staff up there is exceptional and even when 'crowded' there was always space to hang out. I'd book an Ascent cruise anywhere...fantastic boat.

Tom, if you ever get a chance to do a behind the scenes tour, I think you would enjoy it. You cannot take pictures or videos so it wouldn't be something you can share on here, however. I did this tour on the Constellation, and we went through the crew living areas including the mess hall and one of the bars called Mingle. You see many crew appreciation boards recognizing crew members and everyone was all smiles. I feel that they enjoy working on the ship and Celebrity treats them fairly well. We visited the galley, the laundry, the engine control room and the bridge. Those two areas are very high security, and we had to pass through metal detectors and were escorted by a security team member. Below deck 0 it is a whole other city, and you really get an appreciation for what it takes to run the ship and keep the guests happy. It was amazing.

I was on the Tropicale when we went through Hurricane Waldo. Pretty wild. At one point the captain did a jog and we got broadsided and tilted pretty far. All the tables in the casino were completely cleared. I had a pic of me holding a beer and the beer line is about 30 degrees.
