I've always had a somewhat tilted view of games which utilize electronic music as a soundtrack mainly because I got introduced to a lot of these artists outside of the context of the game, purely through their music. While I still sometimes get frustrated when people call complextro "geometry dash music", I can also understand where they are coming from. For better or for worse these games have had a core role in bringing this music into peoples lives and downplaying that experience as though it is fake is a form of gatekeeping. To be honest when looking back through some of my favorite tracks it still hurt a bit to see the comment sections talk only about JSAB. I suppose ideally a balance of people gaining a love for the genre but also being aware that this music has a history and artistic meaning BEYOND the video game would be the best. Either way, it is undeniable that games like this are a love letter to the music and stories like yours are what make it worthwhile. I got into electronic music by watching AMVs with Skrillex tracks and hearing some of the classic Monstercat releases from Rogue and Stephen Walking being used by minecraft youtubers. In many ways, these are parallel experiences to yours with JSAB. Honestly hearing Formed By Glaciers and Wake at the end is what comes to show that your love for the music is such that you have delved into it beyond the game. Incredible tracks that mean a huge deal to me.

Incredible video! I loved the editing and how you managed to talk about so much without making the video too long. I also like Just Shapes & Beats a lot and there are a few things i want to point out that you didn't mention in the video In my opinion, in addition to the "TRY HARD MODE" they should add a way to learn each checkpoint individually instead of playing through the entire song. Also something that I adore about just shapes and beats is how good the attacks are telegraphed. The difficulty doesn't come from the attacks being unexpected, but from the amount of things on the screen. This is something that requires a lot of thought, but it's hard to notice when it's done right.

insanely huge W video this is wonderful I want to say that Omega Strikers has an insanely active and dedicated competitive community set on playing the game and keeping it going strong. there are multiple leagues that are all taken seriously, several weekly tournaments, and tons of people working really hard to not only keep it all going, but working to improve it too just a few weeks ago, there was an in-person LAN tournament held in NYC with over 120 people showing up for it. and not like, 120 new yorkers spawning in to play, but people from across NA flying in to compete. and it was the fourth LAN that OS has seen, which is crazy for a game that’s been out just over a year, and there’s a fifth one coming down the line too all of this to say that competitive Omega Strikers has never been better. the steam charts tell a different story, but OS has an incredibly passionate community working to see this game thrive. I’d highly recommend anyone still reading this (omg hi thank you) to join one of these weekly tournaments and play, it’s a lot of fun and now time for my mandatory shill in my competitive OS comment. if anyone’s interested in watching top level Omega Striking, you should definitely check out bestieinslot on youtube or twitch. the current season for the tier 1 league is going to enter playoffs soon, which is really exciting. anyway unapologetic shill complete please play or watch Omega Strikers it’s really cool and there’s a real comp scene that’s doing well thank you for reading my big message bye bye

This is probably my favorite game and I still play today. I've seen people drop the game as soon as they encountered better players sadly. My friend had one(1) game where he lost every strike war and just didn't want to play again. The moba players I played with also didn't like how abilities felt since the cooldowns are pretty long and you really need to pick your moments. It's a super hard game that doesn't do a great job at explaining itself. It's hard to as a forward to recognize when it's best to dribble or pass, and it's hard as a goalie to recognize when to clear from the opponents or attempt a pass. And unless you really pay attention to better players, it's hard to tell what their intentions are. Making mistakes in OS is super punishing, so I understand why some people bounced off. Also early on, the game had so many people trolling, quitting or flaming, it was pretty demoralizing. Nowadays, when someone looks AFK or DCs, everybody stops and waits for them to come back. I never knew a community could do that.

I want to add that one of the biggest problems to the game that is always mention in the community, the matchmaking, It gets really frustrating when you are an experienced player with a high level account and you still get paired up with rookie players, for me It is a huge problem although I understand why it happens in the first place also the lack of communication, but even with those problems its a genuine fun game and made with a lot of effort and love.

Game is not dead! I’m finding matches really fast. I’m a day one player, and while i’ve played it on and off throughout, I still adore this game. I miss the days when this game blew up and everybody was playing it, because it is one of the only free to play, completely skill based games. Nobody gives it a chance anymore because “it’s dead” or “looks like a cheap mobile game”, when neither of these really are the game. And the people who did play left because of the announcement, but that also means there is a small, but very loyal fanbase. I’m honestly surprised I even got into the game. At it’s release, another huge game released, and I was more focused on that than OS. Another reason was the screenshots heavily undersold the game, so I expected it to be another knock-off game that i’ll uninstall the same day. Funnily enough, that big game, being Honkai: Star Rail, I didn’t like and left, leaving me with just Omega Strikers. It’s still sad to see how this game fell, because this game also changed my life. Yes, it still has it’s problems, but it’s still a great game at it’s core. A pretty good way I found it’s fall described was, the MOBA players found it too sports like, and the sports players found it too MOBA like.

similarly to battlerite (another great game that fell off) it suffers from the competitive nature of the main game mode. by analyzing other huge and successful competitive games we can see that there is downtime and uptime during gameplay meaning an average player can play several hours of that game without needing to take a break. but a game like omega strikers requires you to give it your all during the entirety of every match leaving an average player exzausted after a few games. this leads to people feeling tired when thinking about playing such a game. instead a game whose gameplay has downtime for more relaxed engaged playtime and uptime for showing off one's skill can have better player retention
@JamesThompson-zu3bq
@JamesThompson-zu3bq Ай бұрын
Ehh I'm not sure this is the reason. There's a bit of downtime in between sets and the games themselves are relatively short. There's also plenty of popular competitive games that have less downtime.

As someone who invested a lot of hours on this game and plans on continuing to do so, i think you brushing off the reasons the game wasn't successfull to "it just wasn't commercial enough" is a bit unfair. Don't get me wrong, i have a lot of respect for ody and the game, but as most people will say, there's always been flaws in the game and for some people they made the game not worth it after a while. And saying "the game is dead" is of course an exhaggerated figure of speech, but the playercount has undeniably decreased, i don't think it's fair to call all people who want to document how the game's playerbase fell "cynic". All of that said, i mostly agree with the rest of the video, and i would very much love if more players came back into the game.

To be frank, I won't play this game as the only pvp game I got into was brawl stars (at launch plus my friends pulled me into it). I saw a lot of people play it though and I think that the main reason the game is falling off is because it just gets repetitive pretty soon. The map is small and as far as I know, there is only one game mode that is as simple as it gets. However, I do think that the designs are top notch even though I'm not a big fan of sci-fi aesthetics.

The game litteraly died bcs of the lack of attention developpers gave towards their fans. All they did was litteraly to think that their players were there as some sort of amusement. Talk about fanarts and cool plays they did, but as soon as they had to come up w answers for how broken some champs were, the lack of sociability between players, quality of life was awful and updates were not that often they dissapeared. If the game died is bcs of the developpers themselves

I think this game being a windows 10 exclusive in 2022 played a large part in people not playing it. The game just wouldn't run on windows 7 and a significant number of people just weren't prepared to upgrade to a spyware OS that had to be given out for free because the user was the product rather than the customer just to play a game, and with 7 still being officially supported at the time there was no incentive to upgrade beyond that.

Thank you for demonistrating that the gaming community is illogical with its criticisms of "bad games." Most of the time, gamers will cry about the developers being incompetent or greedy, and that's apparently why games die or don't have a big following. This video highlights that even good developers can make good games but if the game is boring, that is ultimately the playerbase is dwindling.
