❤ What a lovely place, so many nice specimens. Perhaps their goal is to show these plants as close to realistic, natural habitat as possible without supplemental water. Lovely aloes there! Thanks for taking us along.

What do you recommend for watering and sunlight for these?
@seniorsuecactiАй бұрын
Water only when the soil is completely dry. If growing indoors, place near a bright sunny window or use grow lights. If kept outdoors, place in a location that receives morning sun. Keep plants out of the hot afternoon sun.

Looks very nice! What's the secret to getting rid of oxalis? It is such a headache for me😕
@seniorsuecactiАй бұрын
I usually dig out the oxalis by hand. You have to make sure you dig up the “bulb” at the end of the root. As hard as I try, I still get lots of oxalis after every winter rain. I might have to resort to using weed killer, if I want to eliminate the problem. 😢I sympathize with you! It’s a pain!

Love your garden! Absolutely stunning!! Do you have any tips on how to handle etiolation? I got a monkeytail for my birthday and was very excited, however it's been growing upwards and I'm not sure how to get it to trail. Thank you!! Love the content! - Note: I did try placing it outside a little bit ago, but it got a bit sunburnt!
@seniorsuecacti2 ай бұрын
Eventually the monkey tail will trail over the sides of the pot. When you put your plant outside, keep it in the shade. If you keep it indoors, put it in front of a very sunny window or use grow lights.

G’day from Perth Western Australia other Sue. 😄 Thank you for taking us through your garden. I really enjoyed it. 💚 It’s nice to see a video where many succulents are in the ground for a change. Your climate sounds really similar to ours where summer drags on & on into autumn. 🥵 I planted some Baby Sun Rose ( aptenia cordifolia ) as a groundcover in my front garden. It grows really well and keeps the ground a bit moister as compared to rocks which I was considering but didn’t want the extra residual heat. It also looks a nice fresh, green colour too. Another good one to use as a groundcover and filler is blue chalksticks. I have one growing in a huge pot at the moment but will eventually be adding it onto the ground in a couple of years. Mulch is definitely a good way to go though because it also benefits and conditions the soil as it breaks down. I’m really enjoying spring right now and am not looking forward to the heat of summer come December. I like your idea of using garden umbrellas. I need to visit K Mart & buy a few more.
@seniorsuecacti2 ай бұрын
Hi Susan! Yes we have some more hot days coming. This next week we are going to have temps of low 90’s to high 80’s. I like your idea of using aptenia cordifolia as a ground cover. I have some in a pot and I think I will plant it in the ground once the weather cools off. I agree, the rock really holds onto the heat! Thanks so much for watching and have fun gardening! 😎
