Beautiful outcome. Wanted to know if you used a mordant and also did you add anything to the water . How long did you boil it. Is it an iron pot. Boil it steam and which fabric have used..it's beautiful. Kindly advise.

Your eco-printing is by far the most stunning I have seen! If I understand well, you first lay the leaves on the material, you add leaves to the cauldron and you boil the bundles into the water (which dyes the outside), then you let it rest (for how many days?) and after that you unwrap, hang it to oxydise, and then you plunge it in salted water to fix the color?

So, i've tried this but not had good results. When I go to rinse the item for the first time most of the color rinses away. Any tips?

Rachel Walker soak your fabric in cold water with at least a cup of salt in it (more for larger batches) for a couple hours after dying to fix the dye. Then wash it. This will help keep your colors longer. Some Eco print materials will still fade faster than others. But you can always redo prints later if you wish.

Great. Need more info on the process, though. How did you 'steam' the bundle?
@GwenApMannanan
@GwenApMannanan 7 жыл бұрын
Ann Isik se the same way you steam vegetables. But you make sure you steam them for at least two hours, and don't aggressively boil the water.

@patreynolds4770

Cotton or silk thread can be used. Or even thicker twine or rope. It depends on the results you want.

Yes I too was wondering if Laura uses mordants. I don’t think India does, except vinegar and rusty nails
