Hey, you're doing? Lara is the Queen of resonance, breath control, phrasing, the best composer and stories teller. That's why she's known as The Ring. Trained to be an Opera Singer for 10 years, but decided to compose and performe Pop songs. Fluently in 4 languages and has already sang in 12 languages perfectly. You should react to her singing Adagio 2 months ago with the Cellist Stjepan Hauser, she also sang Caruso with a new version Higher than usual, at the same concert. It was outstanding!!! Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides. Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”. I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her. It shows how benevolent and humble she is. The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck, …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart. Surprisingly, it was also a massive success in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests. Again many covers of this songs from eastern europe talents: Polina Gagarina, Sevara Nazarkhan, Katerina Maslova, Natalia Tsarikova, … As always with her biggest hits, Lara has performed it in many different ways: • Intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999, • Subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité 2003 tour. • Classy and moving, performing with 2 vertebrae broken, at Royal Albert Hall in London (2011) • Jazzy in a recent perf (2018) with a band from Quebec The lyrics are also mesmerizing. Despite the title, it is not a classic love song but a breakup song instead. “Je t’aime” was written by Lara Fabian and Rick Allison, her longtime music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and a professional relationship . It speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

a song by Lara about her daughter and the anguish of being a mother ‘le coeur qui tremble" kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJW3l5ukjLN6qdksi=GxEt5EGQN4frBc-c I open the door And feel my hand on the knob You never know What might happen to you You know outside men fall With the night I'd like to protect you When the cats are grey I'll give you the name Bright city streets Keeping you out of dark corners The dead ends, the fools Their arms outstretched too fast Like gnarled branches I'd so much like to avoid you All these empty promises But you'll do As you see fit You'll see No story is like you Don't blame me If I do more than I should It's in spite of myself My soul will always be on the lookout And even together My heart will always tremble You'll take boats Waiting for you to return You'll take trips That will want to turn short But wherever you go I'll keep your departure Your departure in my heart Like the last impact My child you will take Your life with your arms I'll spend mine Watching over you Today you fall asleep In the next room And I pray that nothing will separate us But you'll do As you see fit You'll see No two stories are alike Don't blame me If I do more than I should It's in spite of myself My soul will always be on the lookout Even when we're together But you'll do As you see fit You'll have A little bit of life Don't you worry If I can't sleep in peace It's in spite of myself I'll always have my soul on the lookout And even together My heart will always tremble

I grew up listening to the original song by Simon & Garfunkel & have always loved it. I think Peter & Tim do a great version of this song. Their voices complement each other perfectly. The layering of their voices in this is amazing. Peter & Tim have done a lot of collaborations including "Misty Mountains", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "Teach Your Children", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend". Pentatonix a "brief" background. They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead); Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair),NOT IN THIS SONG true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on KZbin, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his KZbin videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on KZbin), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on KZbin, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. It is an often debated subject among the Pentaholics as to just how soon we introduce the "Beginners Guide" as we don't want to overdo the introduction. This is a compilation of snips of a whole load of songs which PTX have released. It highlights each member with some of their solos and then a brief history in video. It is quite long - 14+ minutes and is a little dated now (Feb 2020) but is a good watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/onXbepmtm6igh6c&pp=ygUdYmVnaW5uZXJzIGd1aWRlIHRvIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/ Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Another nomination for Holidays Around the World album in the 2024 list! Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. They married 22/04/24! They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage. 4. It is "Pentatonix" there is no "The".

Lara wrote the lyrics on this old classic music composition in English and in Italian. I like more the Italian version ..The Italian language is more colored. Lara, always magnificent, always sublime and heavenly in life performances , in any language she sings!!! Many talk always about the lyrics. The the only thing that stands out about Lara is her very beautiful, very strong but always velvety tone and sound of her voice in the whole 4.1 octave range. No vibratons in her voice Her emotional and captivating performances ...The effortless singing even in the high notes. Lara's performances can be called minimalistic. Fabian does not have backup dancers. She wears a strict dress code, light makeup, no flashy fingernails, and usually not one or a minimum number of pieces of jewelry on stage. Her unique very strong but velvety 4.1-octave voice (lyric soprano) whit an exceptional nearly endless breath control what results in the seamless connections of words and phrases of the lyrics, that is the only thing that the audience receives and what captivates the audience

More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music, and is at the source of the melodic line. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish and grand mother on father side is dutch, but she also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( the father of her mother is from Detroit). She had been raised in Sicilia first for 7 years then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She only moved away from opera to pop because she is first and foremost a songwriter. After her Eurovision participation in 1988 (4th), she really started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She moved to Sicilia end of 2022. She became very famous in Quebec in the early 90s with several double platine records and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and was number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), Linda Eder, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: • I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. • He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara. Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version) ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know") • She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love". • And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). • Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration (singers from every region in the world: from China and Taiwan, to Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Central Africa, …) ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Charice Penpengco (Adagio), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow), ○ Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Adagio), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow) ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know), ○ Il Divo (Adagio) ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you), ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow) ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow), ○ Amir (Je t’aime), ○ Pauline Aguirre (Adagio)), ○ George Peris (Broken Vow, Humana), ○ Vitas (Adagio), ○ Wanessa Camargo (Love by Grace), ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio), ○ Jeck (Je T’Aime), ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio), ○ Anne Sila (pas sans toi, Tu es mon autre), ○ The Canadian Tenors (Adagio), ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade), ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade), ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio), ○ Sarah Naura Irbah (Mademoiselle Hyde), ○ Elisabetta Rinaldi (Adagio), ○ Alyona Yarushina (Adagio), ○ Marie Payet (Pas sans toi), ○ Laurh (Immortelle), ○ Inger Lise Hope (Adagio), ○ Håkon Sønsterud Tollefsrød (Broken Vow), ○ Flora Tandi (Bambina), ○ Cindy Chao (Yeliel My Angel), ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio), ○ Abraham Mateo (Adagio), ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Russel Watson (Adagio), ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you) ○ Annointed (Love by Grace), ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime) ○ .... NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October 2022 and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular. On April, May, June 2023 she had again some wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, then in Ouzbekhistan, Kazakhstan, Romania. She is about to release a new album and just completed another popular tour in eastern europe (Czech Republic, Moldavia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Hungary) and in Canada in april-june 2024. She also appeared as a guest in some big events such as Hauser’s concert in Royal Albert Hall (May 9th 2024). Then, after some rest and a few TV Shows, she will tour France in 2025. The first song of her new album (titled "Ta Peine" - Your Sorrow) was released late January 2024 and is a success in France. Her album is expected to be released in fall 2024. Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Charice Penpengco, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , … They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKLShGCBhLGJlZY Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5eaqZaDg5KHj6s Or you can check her recent excellent renditions: - in Zagreb, late april 2024 (italian) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zme6gHdodt2Hiq8si=pXrU2vQ1Lrca2PTs - In London, Royal Albert Hall, with Hauser playing cello, on May 9th 2024 (english): kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5y6oYKAiZmsb8ksi=WSoA4RXiw-TMmRNv

Thank you. Now imagine trying to play a musical instrument when you are tearing up like that. Apparently it was exactly like that in rehearsal for Voila last year, and I am sure that it was the same this year.
