No one then or since has had behind them what LCT had. Money, connections, and knowing what he wanted to do and hiring those who could make it happen. There were no holds. How did they do those multiple deep cuts? Somehow, I doubt it was done with a glass cutter. Even with todays Toyo you cannot repeat this without losing a lot of pieces especially drapery. That is why I use a diamond saw, belt sander, and diamond grinders to not lose that expensive and sometimes only piece that will do the job. It is slow, but works. They could have also used acid as we know they used it. Now the big problem, as I see it, is no longer Oceana and Uroboros. Who makes drapery now?

Great to see all you have done, the opportunity now is to move away from a car centric culture and introduce dedicated, protected cycle lanes enabling the town centre to be safely accessed by bicycles. Look at the Netherlands for some great examples of what small cities like yours have changed to.

Awesome presentation. This should have 100X more thumbs ups. I was born and raised in Springfield before moving away in my late teens in the early 80s (during the declining years...LOL). I remember when the "modern" city building was built. You never appreciate the history of a place at that age. I do now. Whatever happened to the big fountain? Was it demolished...moved?

I'm curious to know the reactions of Charles Young's family if a movie (FACTIONAL TRILOGIES) based on his LIFE AND CAREER was portrayed by THIS PARTICULAR ACTOR, whom I've been watching since his film debut in 1991. A CLUE ABOUT THIS ACTOR: An iconic 1991 movie with him portraying the character, "RICKY BAKER."

If there is any key ingredient to revitalizing a community, that ingredient is the elimination of the taxation of houses and other buildings, instead collecting the full potential annual rental value of locations. What does this do? First, it rewards the care and maintenance of buildings, which are depreciating assets that require continuous expenditure on maintenance and every ten years or so huge expenditures on systems replacement and upgrading. Taxing buildings is counter-productive and, in the long run, a destructive practice. If there was any logic in taxing buildings, then local governments and school districts ought to tax all forms of depreciating assets (e.g., automobiles, computers, televisions, telephones, refrigerators, lawn mowers, etc. etc. etc.). What about taxing locations at a location's potential rental value? The economic literature if filled with arguments favoring this means of raising revenue to pay for public goods and services. The rental value of a location exists because of the quality of public goods and services brought to the location, independent of what the owner does or does not do to improve the site with a building. Taxing location rent gives the owner of the location a strong financial incentive to improve the location to its highest, best use. Failure to collect the potential rent has in most communities made holding land idle a profitable form of speculation. When the annual tax on land is low, owners can hold land vacant for years or decades. Vacant land provides no housing for anyone or a business location or other constructive use. If there are many vacant lots in a neighborhood or many vacant and deteriorating buildings, the main reason is the conventional property tax. Community activists who want to see their communities thrive should find out more about the above proposed change in how their local government raises revenue. There are about twenty towns, boroughs and school districts in Pennsylvania that have moved in this direction. Find out more by visiting the website of the Princeton-based Robert Schalkenbach Foundation -- schalkenbach.org/ Edward J. Dodson, Director School of Cooperative Individualism www.cooperative-individualism.org

Thank you for trying to help but this did not provide any information on preparing for the application. It was a 40 minute video on who is eligible and general overall information of the program that could be read in 5 minutes if you go to the SBA RRF website. Hope this comment helps others looking for information to prepare documents and other details for the application when it opens...cause none will be found on this video.
