what if the system is lifted an angle 'theta' and with m1=m2 and no friction....what would be natural frequency?

Why doesnt the equation in the second method become (m1 - 4.m2)x" when the 4.m2 comes across to the LHS?

You keep saying dampener, and i dont see anything being sprayed with water.. Its a damper.

I had that question at first but look at the pulley relation. There are two lengths pulley strings in the x direction and one in the y direction. The distance traveled in x is twice to y. This should clear things up for you Hamza Boujdaine
