This is easy because you're still in shallow waters where your feet can kick from the bottom. It's different and more difficult when you're in deep waters and your feet have no leverage and you would rely mostly on upper body strength.

This is the River Tay, in Perthshire, Scotland. It is a wave called Wee Eric, or Wee Eck, near the village of Stanley. It is a high water level spot

It would be very helpful to add a closeup, slow demonstration to better see exactly what you are doing at the end of the stroke.

I regularly paddle at Saltburn and Maske as have family at Redcar. Amazing area to paddle, great people. But coming from Cornwall, unless it is the summer, so bloody cold...

There is some incredible spots hey?!. Definitely a fair temperature difference with the lack of gulf stream warming in the depths of winter. But, little crowds, a good suit and it's all worth it!.

You make it look so easy!! 🏄‍♀️ what is a good size wave to start with?
@mattgambles1832

Thank you! Small and gentle waves are the key, with plenty of spacing between the waves themselves. With SUP's having plenty of volume, we really don't need a big wave to learn on and have incredible fun on!. Onshore winds and dumpy waves certainly will hinder the learning process, so, calm conditions, small not too powerful waves. Hope that helps!

I am a total beginner, I have done SUP several times and it is very easy for me, however, I was wondering if I it can still be easy for me to use a surfboard for SUP or not? I am a beginner and right now I only have access to the surf board.
