btw, on the topic of prices, I got this one on the used market for 10€ ..... Did not even need new parts ! I just printed new pickup covers, added a Series/Parallel switch (very easy and highly efficient on a JazzBass), hammered down some wild frets and a basic setup 😉 It is now one of my favorite Basses.

Nice cover! Complete begginer here -- 'm trying to choose between this one (around 90EUR on amazon) and a Harley Benton (around 120EUR). Is the entry model for Harley Benton that much better? Thanks!
@asfodhellАй бұрын
Well, hard to tell ... I only have the PB-20 SBK in the Harley Benton lower tier ... If it's the JB10 (and not the JB8), then I'd guess it's up to taste, as I can't see any real downside with it. Regardless of the choice, I'd change the strings. Taking the Harley Benton, you could take their HQS strings for 10€ with it, which are really great. If you go for the Vision MSA, then you'd probably go for Ernie Ball or other big name. I still use the stock strings on my MSA JB10, and it's definitely something I NEED to change ........ Good thing I own 12 Bass guitars 😂 Sound wise, I know there are better results with Harley Benton's JB-20 than PB-20.

It's a balancing act ;) Whenever I see my videos on a TV, phone or bad speakers, it's really really bad ; can't hear my work 😅 Fortunately, it got much better in my videos since this one. Also, I really don't want to burry the original track under a ton of Bass frequencies ... If you check out my cover of Newsted - King Of The Underdogs, I used a software to remove the original bass track.

Le poids ça donne quoi elle est lourde? Merci
@asfodhell8 ай бұрын

Record and instrument are detuned, or it's a chorus effect on bass?
@asfodhell10 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure it was tuned as the Tabs asked for. As for the sound ; back then I didn't even have an amp or cab sim, it was only the preamp pedal. My main mistake was to keep the level of my Bass too close to what the original track has. Came out as boomy and not good overall.

Sir, this bass is good for the money and in terms of sound, or look at other options and “you could use it in home recording” @@@ thanks.
@asfodhell Жыл бұрын
Well, it's a versatile Bass thanks to its PJ pickups, 24 frets and flat neck that feels pretty good (I prefer narrower necks, like a Jazz Bass). I'd say the factory pickups are a bit weak, but nothing a boost pedal (or EQ pedal) can't correct to push the amp a bit more, if needed. At least they're not microphonic and rather noiseless. Factory strings are horrible though 😅 Tuners seemed good enough and the nut is cut well. It's also very lightweight ! I was not the first owner of this Bass. I don't see any reason it wouldn't fit in a studio environment or Live performance.
@asfodhell Жыл бұрын
Then again, at its current price on Amazon, I'd say "look at Harley Benton too".

@asfodhell Жыл бұрын
@@Free33dom-g5b It seems likes the Vision JB10 is gone from Amazon now ... As for Harley Benton, I'd say the MB-4 SB (or SBK for a Black/Metal look) is praised a lot by all the testers and users. Prices have gone up AGAIN. As long as you're willing to change one potentiometer for a Push/Pull or just add a switch to gain access to the Series mode on this Humbucker for heavy stuff (really not necessary), it seems like a good bet for under 130€.

Thing is, I lately took on a new job as a ... clerk, kind of ... and I had no time or energy left to play Bass in the past 3 weeks😔 Seems like I'm loosing my abilities rather quickly if I don't play daily. There's an atrics bass for sale near me for£75. Should i go for it?
@asfodhell Жыл бұрын
Hard to say ... If the neck is straight with a mostly virgin trussrod, maybe ? I wouldn't. Keep in mind this brand used to be cheap knockoff found on Ebay 15 or so years ago. At that price I'd much rather aim for a Harley Benton 😉 I got this one for 10€, so it was not even a question of whether or not the neck was good, or with working electronics etc ... I wouldn't put more than 40€ on another Atrics instrument.
