You look so nervous at the start and like you're reading from a script, relax more you have great content and a lovely home. I'm most of the way through the 30 day clutterbug challenge, it's been great 5 items in a set area in 5 mins, really helped me with motivation and feeling less overwhelmed. Whilst I will never be a minimalist, as I like my stuff, I do want a less chaotic house and to know where everything is and have a place for it. Each time one of my children moves out, I donate/toss extra plates, pans and so on as I don't want to end up like my poor parents, who both died recently and left me a house full of clutter, more like you see on hoarder shows. I refuse to do that to my own children, but my CD's are going nowhere :D

I'm doing this game this month - I'm doing it backwards. So I started with 30 items on day 1.... I just find I have more momentum at the beginning! I've also done it where I just declutter and then if I happen to find 15 items, I cross off day 15. The next day I might find 3 items and cross off day 3.

I don't think it was a failure. You got your garage cleaned up and painted and you did get some things gone. That's a plus, but, I would love to see you be more aggressive in getting things sold, tossed or donated. That said, I need to do that, too. While I don't have near so much, I have things in my basement that I wanted to have a garage sale with, but, because I am "elderly" , I need help for that. Now, I'm thinking maybe I should just donate most of it except for things that are honestly worth something...Over the past three years, I have been able to get rid of a lot of old business papers and updated those things and just generally stuff that we no longer needed or used. 😊
@gatoregidgeАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I know it does take time to get rid of stuff and sometimes I wish I could move it faster, too. Now that I'm back at work it seems to have slowed way down. It takes a lot of time organizing and pricing for a garage sale. I hope you can have a friend or family member help you move your items out of your basement and get them sold. It sounds like you are on the right track with getting rid of old business papers etc... I'm glad you started 3 years ago. That gives me hope that I don't have to complete my mission over one summer break because it came and went but so glad I did it! Thank you for watching my journey!

My newest video is about helping my sister declutter and organize as I take a break from my garage. But soon I will share what was donated etc…Stay tuned for an upcoming video that will talk about my final “stuff” dilemma. Another wonder that I have is how much of the eBay inventory is worth more than you can get at garage sale? Could more of it go in the sale? It is looking more organized and the craft area looks nice and cozy.
@gatoregidge2 ай бұрын
I agree that more could go in the garage sale but it will take some time to sort each bin individually. I plan on selling a lot of my Christmas items in a fall garage sale because people seem disinterested in the fall holiday decorations in the heat of the summer.

Thank you, it is a slow process, but the stuff accumulation happened gradually. It is taking longer than I anticipated to have my garage sale. Those colors are a great idea! My channel is just about the adventures in my life and being real. I came up with this name several years ago when I started selling plush on eBay, but life got too busy and I stopped selling. I came up with the name because several of the creative names I came up with were already taken. I combined a plush gator and instead of gadget I invented the word gidge. I put them together with an "e" to create gatoregidge. When I decided to try creating video content I decided to use the word as it was so unique. I like the way it roles off of my tongue. @gatoregidge2 ай бұрын
It sure is! It didn't happen overnight and some of it I inherited. I thrifted a little bit at a time and I have sold on eBay a little bit at a time. My problem is time... I am a full time school teacher and eBay is and was my side hustle. I also had some antique booths in the past but because I can't clone myself and my energy level is not like it used to be I closed my booths. I have had 1 or 2 garage sales for the past few years with my neighbors or by myself and I have been able to donate a lot along the way as well. I am getting ready to retire after this next school year and I am trying to declutter 16 years of accumulating school stuff. WOW! It is not going as quickly as I would like it to go! The struggle is real. The eBay side is to keep me busy during my retirement or if I decide not to do eBay anymore I can sell it or donate it. Thank you for watching!

LOL, Sorry for the confusion... I should do a quick recap at the beginning of my videos for new viewers. I have been on a journey to declutter a lot of stuff inside and outside of our home. This is Part 4 of previously recorded videos(Part 1, Part 2a, Part 2b, and Part 3) Decluttering the garage. Prior to that I have done some stand alone videos on different sections of our home or projects that we have going on. The goal is to donate, sell, recycle, and get rid of most of my teaching stuff and other "stuff" we aren't using anymore. I plan on retiring from teaching after this next school year. I also had a side hustle of selling on eBay and thus the accumulation of so much inventory. This has happened over a few years and I seem to buy more than I sell. I am resetting my eBay side hustle in hopes of selling more or if I decide not to sell any of it I will just have a huge garage sale and be done with it. I haven't decided as of yet. I seem to go back and forth. The great news is I haven't thrifted in several months because I started to feel overwhelmed. I also inherited a lot of vintage toys that I am selling or donating. Thank you so much for watching and I am grateful for your nice comments. There may not be alot of teachers that need the stuff in the garage sale. BUT there is alot of new teachers that would love to have those items. PLUS there is alot a families that home school that could use your stuff. Whatever you are getting rid of will help others and will help you to declutter ❤
@gatoregidge3 ай бұрын
Yes, I really want the items to be recycled. They are in great condition so what I don’t sell will go to another teacher. Last summer 2 different teachers were interested in my teaching “stuff.” One was a home school teacher and her father was the one that bought so much stuff for a small donation. I also asked him to come the next day at the end of my garage sale and I donated all of the left over teaching supplies. I received a thank you card months later on Thanksgiving Day. It was taped to my door. What a joy! Anyway it was a win win for all of us. I usually have a goal set for the garage sale money… sometimes I replenish my prizes that I give to my kids aka students. Sometimes I treat myself to a new outfit for work or my husband and I help some of our family members in need. We also donate what doesn’t sell to a thrift store that helps pregnant girls or women and to my sister who is also a teacher so she can resell the items in her thrift booth. 😊
