You should figure out what to do with all the log jams, i use to help float stock in the fall. Ut with all the log jams it just makes it to hard, plus their destroying that Once Beautiful stream!

Has anyone done any fishing recently to see how the fish are doing?

The section the demonstrated the stocking is artificial lures and delayed harvest. The youth fishing a week earlier is a great idea. My complaint is adults fishing with them are hauling the trout like crazy. McMichaels is a beautiful stream. I’ve fished that since I was eight. I’m sixty one now and fish it when I can.

So how many were stocked in total? With how small they are I'd expect that the survival rate would be to high got them fellows but I'm not a fish expert truthfully more curious then anything

Thats awesome! So happy to see the lake refilled and reopening. Can't wait to get up there and take a few cast. I've been fishing donegal lake a lot since being refilled and am really impressed with the quality of largemouth bass they put in there. Hopefully somerset lake gets the same quality fish. Think it depends on where the streams are. My experience in Pennypack the conversation officer has people stock the fish all on the same holes every year. I've seen zero effort to spread the fish out.

Ugh. Terrible stocking once again. I know this exact spot. People throw all the buckets literally in the same hole and 90% of the fish do not leave that spot.

Thanks for posting this meeting; it’s nice to know the rationale behind some of the decisions being made. I especially found the logic behind the fall season stocking interesting, but I had a few concerns. 1. One of the major claims was that angler interest for fall fishing was lower than interest in spring fishing. The major evidence supporting this claim was that actual use (hours/acre) for fall fishing were lower than spring’s. My biggest concerns here are that actual use is a poor proxy for interest, and that the assertion of cause (i.e., low hours/acre in fall) and effect (i.e., no fall stockings) may be reversible. That is to say, because there are so few locales stocked in the fall, fall fishing activity is low; even if you compare a given stream in spring to the same stream in fall, actual activity may be lower than interest for a variety of reasons (e.g., lowered stocking rates/totals in fall, data for locales with fall stocking may be unrepresentative of the more numerous areas currently without, less public awareness of fall stocking in general, etc.). Rather than relying on a questionable proxy like activity, a more direct metric for understanding interest might be self-reported interest levels for fall fishing collected via survey; I would be especially interested in comparing current fall activity vs. anticipated activity/interest IF fall stockings would occur in local waterways. 2. Second, I have concerns about the average hours/acre (i.e., from a lack of clarity and as a statistical technique in this case). From the presentation of the lake data, I assumed these averages were averages for ALL lakes and/or streams in the commonwealth (i.e., total) instead of more granular averages per lake and/or stream (i.e., individual over some period of time). Outliers can easily skew datasets in the case of the first when gauging interest via the proxy of use (e.g., some heavily hit tourist spots/lakes may have high activity only in the spring, whereas less touristy areas/lakes might have more steady levels of activity). Also, going back to my first concern, I know from personal experience that a lot of my angling buddies ONLY fish water (mostly streams/creeks) for a short duration after it is stocked in spring because they don’t see much value in going after what few fish are left in the water. That said, the stream average is given as a range, so maybe the more granular style of averaging per stream was being done; I’d be less concerned with this if that were the case. I’d still be interested in knowing if there were significant outliers, though. If there were significant variations between locales, modal data might be more useful for getting a clearer picture. Overall, I understand working with old datasets to try and reduce costs when working on semi-related contemporary issues, so that’s fine if that’s the case here. It’s probably true that actual activity would still be lower in the fall even if more locales were stocked in the fall, but I just find the evidence and argument a bit weak/unclear here. I’d even be content to hear something like, “We don’t want to do more fall stockings because of the associated costs”, not that I’m saying that is the rationale in play. I’m sure that those in charge have valid reasons beyond what was presented, too. I don’t even particularly have a horse in this race; I might fish more in the fall if a closer stream were stocked, but I can live without that happening.

It's great to see the conservation officers for this county interacting and gladly letting the public take part in the stocking cuz let's be honest they should be the ones dumping buckets of fish CUZ they're gonna be the here fishin not the officers or the guys driving the truck.fyi the conservation officers for Lehigh county need take a coarse in interacting with the community. The officer I incountered wouldn't even eg knowledge I was there and even when I warned him of possible drug paraphernalia left behind by drug addict he said I know. And those were the only words he said to me considering I said dozens to him. They act like they're to good to even speak to you. Then he wanted the second bucket I brought down like it was his job to put them all in. Fyi he brought two of his own buckets down as well. If this officer reads this next time I'm gonna ignore you just like you ignored me when I was talkin to you.

As a PA resident, I am in favor of making more waters Keystone Select. A large majority of these fish will be caught within a week, placed in freezers and forgotten about.

The fish and boat commission has it. Inorder to obtain a fishing license, you have to give up your social security number. I went to Walmart to obtain a fishing license and the first thing they ask me for is my social security number. I told the woman that there's no way I was giving them my social security number to put on someone's computer. Sometimes business and government agencies forget about safety issues and protocols. Identity theft is not only a major concern in the world of technology, but it continues to be on the rise at an alarming rate. Walmart told me that the sight was a secure sight and nothing can happen. My own inner wisdom tells me, If they can come back the United States Pentagon, they can definitely come get you, Nothing is secure or safe in this wicked system of things and that's a Guarantee. No business or government agency is one hundred percent immune from identity theft and you take one hell of a chance putting your private, personal information out there. Unless it's a private water body, or the ocean I guess I will not be fishing this year because I'm not giving up my social security number to no body. They can ask for your ID or anything else to obtain a little card that gives you permission to go fishing.......

We need 9 in minimums on Crappie and Yellow Perch in lakes in PA.
