I still lost respect for her after she called someone who changed my life “reductive”like it’s nothing to her. To be so successful, and yet have no sense of sympathy or respect for others, who are younger and talented and you personally see them as competition is really sad and pathetic
@MickeyFlipper4 ай бұрын
And she got the that from the same fans that feel Gaga sampling for Born This Way from Express Yourself as being reductive. I personal get Stephanie was doing it as an homage and paying tribute to Madge. But majority of folks who grew up in a generation where coming up with something original instead of sampling from someone else is considered “reductive”. And still is that way to this day

On Sunday, 15 February 1998 at 2 a.m., Madonna performed a surprise mini concert at the Roxy‘s Ice Ball. She premiered to the crowd of 2,500 three tracks from her then-forthcoming album Ray of Light (1998), Sky Fits Heaven, Shanti/Ashtangi and the title track. This performance marked Madonna’s first club show in fourteen years.

One of the most aggravating things about being a Madonna fan is the fact that she always saves vocal performances like this for events that are completely irrelevant and unknown to the general public. Random release parties and singing a cappella on the sets of videos and such. And performances like this that aren’t even televised.
@nullnullsieben00711 ай бұрын
That‘s why those are so good, nerves don‘t get the best of her when it is not televized.

Wow, I’ve looked it up ‘the blue corn moon’ and it has something to do with a native woman singing a song. Well can’t imagine a more beautiful woman than Vanessa Williams singing this song. Despite the context is man taking over land thinking it’s there’s I still love the song, specially the way it’s sang by Vanessa, it’s beautiful and it makes me very happy.

This is the song that connected me to nature and the wilderness. I'm only happy backpacking in wilderness, for 6 months every year I disappear from conventional society and just hike, surrounded by things so beautiful only fellow nature lovers would understand. This is how God wants us to live, not this crazy race society tells us we should live. I love man less, but nature more ------ Lord Byron

The brick-wall compressor they are using on her vocal track is brutal. All the modern pop producers do it, but it is NOT in the style of the music genre she is supposed to be emulating in this song (60's psychedelia). Also, IMHO, it is not flattering to her voice.
@noah-p7t2 жыл бұрын
How do you identify when a compressor is being used on a vocal track? Never really understood what compression was

See? Let this silence all those naysayers that alleged Ms. Ciccone wouldn't allow ANYONE to look at her as she walked down hallways there. But how did they allow a reporter back there to photograph Madge BEFORE she took the stage in that headpiece?! It may be safe to assume she and her camera crew were immediately beheaded at Madonna's behest by one of her gladiators.
