Yes, the composer took inspiration from folk music and dance from his native Nigeria and composed for piano.

How are you playing cornet and piano at the same time?

I record one part and then layer the other part on top. Depending on the section, I sometimes start with the piano part and other times with the cornet part. Thanks for listening!

I've found a score, but never heard of it until now. Thank you for performing Hamelin's the only work for trumpets! Is it as difficult as his works for piano? P.S. According to the score, a set of three fanfares was published in 2003.

Yes, it was published in 2003 but the score gives the composition dates as October 28-29, 2000, in Tallinn, Estonia. I would say the work is nowhere near as difficult for trumpet as Hamelin’s other compositions are for piano. It requires a solid technique but not transcendental prowess. Thanks for listening!

I wasn't familiar with this piece but I love its simplicity and the way it is anchored in the simple diatonic scale! Simple is complex!
