세라본의 예스터데이는 재즈가수답게 여러버전이 있지요. 이 버전도 좋지만... 뽕필나는 버전도 좋지요. 전주 들려주고 곡 맞추라고 하면 맞추는 사람이 없다는...

I’m so glad to hear this. I was friendly with the great Dave Frishberg, and he was the first person I heard sing this wonderful Berton Lane melody. He would pair it with Frank Loesser’s “Guys & Dolls” from GUYS AND DOLLS, referring to the Loesser lyrics as two sides of the same coin. I haven’t heard the second chorus of “The Lady’s In Love With You” for 35 years, when Dave used to do the number. I thought he’d written that second chorus, because that’s the kind of thing he would do, similar to the way Noël Coward used to write extra choruses for Cole Porter songs. I believe Dave DID write a gender reversal chorus for the song “Guys & Dolls,” and that’s probably how I got confused. Frank Loesser was such a tremendous craftsman as a lyricist, and it’s so silly to hear the screenwriters suggest that a lyricist writes one line after the other, committing to the first line, and then stumbling into the second rhyme. But that’s a Hollywood, and what can you do?
