You have your outline, and your blank is roughly planed for foil and thickness. But just a little constructive criticism if I may. You must refine the deck and bottom contours before you start turning rails guys. BECAUSE, your rail bands will change when your contouring your deck and bottom. One step at a time! Turning rails are fun but if the previous steps are not attended to, the rest of the shape will suffer. Nice work though! Keep it up!

Hi Michael, thanks for this video. I've just started shaping my first board and initially I was a bit nervous regarding the rails, but having seen your video and how you've explained it, I feel much more confident. I like the 60/40 principle as it makes it so much simpler and far less daunting.

Dear sir, good job. But you seem to have an epoxy allergy judging by your scratching. Keep it under check. Mainly reactive diluents, polyamines and their vapors.

Does anyone know if hardened epoxy resin reacts to sodium hydroxide? I can't seem to find anything about this subject. I make soap and I am thinking of covering my table surface and my floor with epoxy resin, but I am concerned that the sodium hydroxide might react with the resin. Any help on that would be appreciated.

This feels like protectionism all over again. Without giving me a fundamental understanding of why you choose protectionism over real education I question your motives.
@OnlyRealsht

Protectionism, policy of protecting domestic industries against foreign competition by means of tariffs, subsidies, import quotas, or other restrictions or handicaps placed on the imports of foreign competitors. There is googlism too... this is not it.

@@OnlyRealsht Thank you meriam webster, Thebster! I don't use politics as a credible source to define what is a general use. Industry means anything that is a systemic model that relies on arcana obscura to protect profit or the idea of profitable endeavors or information. AKA - a teacher that uses obscurities to protect profiteering and corruption in educational modals (having no moral imperative)

You pinstriped the foam blank before lamination with cloth? What did you use to color the blank? Is it colored resin or acrylic paint? That's very awesome and creative!
@MichaelHGelb-iw1iw
@MichaelHGelb-iw1iw 5 жыл бұрын
I use yellow and green acrylic paint on the foam. if you use colored tape for pinstriping make sure there is minimal elevation change so that there is no air in the lamination around the tape.
@MichaelHGelb-iw1iw

or you can apply a thin layer of resin as a paste coat after pinstriping and before the lamination with cloth

Hey Mike, bitchin video for sure! Quick question, when you have a "1 Minute" set time versus a "5 Minute" set time, is there more hardener in the 1 Min compared to 5 min? If so, how does the 2-1 ratio work? Are there more Epoxide molecules not bonded? How would this affect the overall strength?

I'm considering using talc in my epoxy as the light filler. Seems like it would delaminate from a ding by using Spackle. I've read that a lot of people use it, but I'm of the epoxy based filler method as well for the sheer strength and bite of the deck. I've got a Santa Cruz and it's not Spackle.
