From what I remember (it's been awhile) build alot of troops and raise your research levels for them. But doing this isn't always worth it if your troops aren't super high level. If your bubble drops u could still get crushed. If you do build many troops and keep a bubble you can try to hit smaller targets for loot. Good targets can be tough to find tho

I found when I fed 4 up the center followed by four more staggered the first row tanks for the second row fairly well
