Butter worms work amazing here in pa. They are larger then maggots and wax worms and work better then both. And correct they come from chili and have to be treated with radioactivity before customs will pass them to stop infestation or breeding here and introducing a new species. They work great here. Our Walmarts even sell them if u can find any in stock that is

Agree! I live in MA and remember Roy from a small web group called cape cod fishing. He has so much knowledge and skill and I had hoped this channel would be full of content. I guess he has other things going on. Wish him the best.

Without hooks on the lure, that's cheating. I am sorry. Please do the same test but then with hooks on the lure. That lure is going to be much more aerodynamic without the triple hooks so that 300 ft will be 225-250ft with hooks.

Might be more with the extra weight.

I ended up getting the 12ft tiralejo with the Ultegra ci4 5500 reel. I choose the 5500 over the 14000 because it was a lighter combo. Then from a bit more research I was told that the 5500 reel is not suitable for the 12ft tiralejo rod because it’s too weak of a reel I should have gotten the 14000 instead . Will I be ok with this combo? I really don’t want to have to spend another 339$ for another reel. I’m not sure what to do. Any good advice would greatly appreciated. Thank you for a great video just the info I was looking for.

I own a 14000 Ci4+ but I think its more fragile than a 5500. I am surprised by you comment.
@jedediyahaaronyisrael71183 жыл бұрын
It’s not because it’s weak. The 12ft rod is too much for the 5500 reel.

As a fellow masshole can u please help me out, can this physically fit in a non surf rod, and did it come with an extra spool. Im trying to see if I can use this in two applications rather than buying 2 spinfishers vi's. Thank you very much maybe see you on the canal
@ctgilcrest6 жыл бұрын
did you use the spool spacers when you put your brad on . mine came with two sizes . if so witch one for 300 yards of power pro 30 # supper slick ?
@gkhin19902 жыл бұрын
I was just gonna ask this! Trying to use 30lb super 8 slick v2 and fill it to the brim. I was thinking of putting on the 4500 because I still want to use backing. Fill it with 50 yards of 8lb mono hoping it would get the whole 300 yrd roll of braid? Help us! Lol

No doubt the reel and rod casts 100 yards but there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many things more import. Been a fan of Shimano reels for a long long time i'm just saying distance isn't everything it all depends on the locations and where the fish are hanging out. Also remember if you cast out 100 yards you need to reel in 100 yards and for some species thats a lot of distance for a fish to find trouble like reefs and rocks and seaweed etc. These European carp style reels that cast long long distance work great it just needs to be the right tool for the job. I fish Nor CAl white seabass off the rocks and striped bass off the beach each requires a different reel. The White sea bass requires extreme drag- torque to slow them down and the stripers usually hang out right in the surf like right in back of the local wave lines 20-30 yards. Just an example.. Another is Sturgeon off the beach and bank in the CALIF delta where i have to get 100 yards to the center of the river where they hang out and then need power as well to control them when reeling in. Several exceed 80-100 lbs They like to find the bank rocks and snap gear off so extreme power is required. to keep their heads up. I love my baitrunners but i need the power of the Penn 3 slammer 10500 with 60lbs of drag on the sea bass and sturgeon. Stripers montauk stripers hell yeah this reel probably the exact right reel for the job i'm simply pointing out 1 reel cant do it all you need the right one for the right job. A Penn slammer #3 10500 hold the braid i need and has the power i need . Conventionals work as well but my kids,wife,friends are not skilled casters they need a simpler spinning reel with power and the Penn slammer gets the job done. Still Fish the hell out of my Shimano Baitrunners are the bomb for my kids especially love the stella Fj 3500 smooth as butter. I can see this Ci4 casting my striper lures a long long ways but where i live i really don't need that distance for the application and just need more power and drag..

Great quality video good editing. I’m not an expert but I don’t target fish on beds nesting it’s not sporting because they will bite anything and they may not return to the nest and effect future populations also tilapia hold their young in their mouths for protection as you caught on video I just hope it all worked out for them.
@noahshillings65984 жыл бұрын
But they're invasive to Florida so it's good if they can't nest or are removed from the water

How heavy was your lure? And did you have the 11ft H or MH?
@royleyva76646 жыл бұрын
Gary Khin The lure weights about 7oz and I was fishing the 11’H which is rated 3-6. That rod does handle 8 well enough.

Roy Leyva I'm a huge fan of shimano fishing products... I already have the tiralejo in the 9'6 model and works great here in Ohio for hybrid striped bass... looking to plan a trip to cape cod to finally get a real striper... not sure what rod to get knowing lure weights range from 2oz all the way up to 8oz... do you think the 11ft MH would take care of my cape cod needs? Watch all your promo vids you're a great help!

Gary Khin I got the 10’6 tiralejo and it handles lures from the 1.5 thru 2oz well. Specially with the sp minnows. Miles on a cast

Never knew you had a personal channel Roy. I’m a huge fan of yours and fellow canal rat and custom plug builder! Great stuff! Stickbaits are something that are not common in the canal outside of the dreaded stick shadd and I think there is a huge market for a sinking stickbait in the Shimano Orca size/profile for the canal. I spent the winter working on a canal specific sinking stickbait. It’s a 200mm long, 5.25 oz sinking stickbait that’s foiled with 2.2mm 316 thru wiring and a 3/0 N/T swivel on the belly
