The most reasonable buff imo is just giving an extra frame or two for CH df2, to make WS22 easier to pull off in game. Im fine nerfing is WS df2 to 17+ frame to compensate. We still keep the LH stuff but make df2 much scarier because you are now -11 and steve is in LH

All I want is for his lion heart parry in heat parries highs and mids instead of mids only because he does a move that high crushes (b2) when the parry hits it looks out of place and other characters heat stance parries does 2 things or everything

You can give Steve many QOL buffs without him ever entering top tier. If his frames on hit were consistently +5 and he had a faster DF2 with some tracking, he would barely move in the tiers, but feel a lot less clunky to play.

I mained Steve since T5 and dropped him for heihachi in T8 once I got serious about tekken in general. No hard feelings, but didn’t like the new direction they took him in. Maybe season 2 will be good to him.
@ShinBladeTV11 күн бұрын
Respectable, most people enjoyed the previous counter hit game he once had
@TK-ev12 күн бұрын
A qol that they could do is make Steve's duck cancels have no delay like a wavedash. That would make some of his extensions easier and make some of his approaches harder to fuzzy. On the other hand, Steve desperately needs a *risky* 13f-15f mid CH, or have his DF+2 get buffed from 16 frames to a tracking 14 frames. Right now a large portion of the cast has an easier time beating pressure than the alleged counter hit paragon.

Of course, steve is an amazing character. He does need a solid amount of the tools to open his opponent up, but I would say for more longevity of the game he should be a character that requires precision execution to be an S Teir character but a character that is intuitive to play and capable of getting wins off of wrong guesses. As the next season approaches and the release of clive, I'm looking forward to how much use we will see of him as more tournaments take place in the current state of Tekken 8.
@CunningAbyss12 күн бұрын
Few things I don't like is he drop b&b randomly sometimes, Raina and jack can fall out the end of my combo, sometimes at the wall I do bf2 or ducking 11 they fly across the screen or go go over my head.
@KrisDee198112 күн бұрын
Gatling is still buggy as well. They tried to fix this move 473 times 😉 Especially when you do wall combo in heat 3,1,1 1+2f gatling. Here gatling should do 15hp unscaled but sometimes it's whiffing and only does 5-8hp. It's so annoying because you could just do 2,1 gatling and save heat.

I like speed but his takes typically are.....blah. steve is really good, if they gave him more he would be close to top tier. You can play him different ways now, but if you're not a steve player he looks like hes missing tools.
@TK-ev12 күн бұрын
Yeah. Steve is certainly missing some things that keep him out of ever being top tier. His frames are quite frankly not good for someone who relies on a lot of stray hits to lure opponents into counter hits. His PKB stance about+2 on almost every hit, but every non-high has a long startup. He also lacks any fast good -12 panic mids so it is strangely easier to keep pressure on Steve than a ton of the cast.
@303Smilezzz12 күн бұрын
@@TK-ev IMO, playing steve forces you to play small tekken more times than not, which I think helps maintain your fundamentals in a game that favors aggression so heavily. This is my favorite version of steve, and It's cool to see all the good steve player have different wrinkles to their game. Imo the ONLY tool he doesn't have that the best characters do is a fast panic get off me move BUT he's got the movement to get out of some spots, and LH stance is great if used correctly. I'm glad he's not a bandwagon character like T7. Keeps people off of him and keeps the light on these really creative Steve players.
@TK-ev12 күн бұрын
@@303Smilezzz I agree that design-wise he is very fun. I am also thrilled that tournaments are flooded with other characters instead of 10 different pocket Steves., But then you remember that he is a boxer in a game that almost a third of the cast has a CH launcher off a mid punch. It is strange that the boxing specialist doesn't have the threat of an evasive get off me as fast as HWO or Ling, or the mental threat of a super unsafe but lightning quick mid CH launcher like Law. Yet I can take those fundamentals that Steve instills, pick up Jin or Claudio and absolutely blow up opponents.
@TK-ev12 күн бұрын
Like why is his fastest mid CH launcher 20 + frames and relying purely on deception? Why don't either of the PKB 4 hit strings link if they catch the opponent moving but not pressing on the second hit?
@303Smilezzz11 күн бұрын
@@TK-ev yeah great point, no matter what I think, one would think the BOXER of all characters would have a tool like that lol. Absolutely agree with taking those fundamentals to other characters. For me, playing Steve has made me a better player overall. I'm definitely more careful about frames and spacing because of it.

Great insight, homie. I'm kinda soul searching since Lei isn't here. But, I adapted to Tekken 8 Steve. It took me a while, but I saw the blueprint. I'm running Raven as a challenge since many consider him "trash" he is a challenge to win with. But, showing some luv Shin 🏆🥊 BTW, as someone who actually trains in boxing, It's funny and odd how Steve does NOT have a "check hook" move. As a middleweight boxing, that is a technique Steve Fox should have. It can operate similar to Nina's Ub1... But instead of her's being mid and -16... Steve's would be a safe high ch launcher type...perhaps go into a stance but... I strongly feel he should have a check hook.
