Not good comparison. That recording is done with compression, which elevates the noise upscale, so you should compare recording without compression implemented, and material recorded by dbx and played by dbx.

I still have my dbx 221, 224, 3BX units. They're like new. I bought them here in Philly, PA from, the now "out of business," Radio 437 in the late 70's and early 80's along with a few other "Top of the Line" audio gear of that era.

can someone explain the wiring could I send my output of my equalizer into the dbx decoder input and then send the decoder output to the tape deck, then from the tape deck output back into the the dbx tape in and then send the dbx tape output into a digital recorders, I don't understand why this has to be so complicated why can't it just have an input then an output, also in order to hear the dbx noise reduction will the tape still have noise on a new system that doesn't have a dbx? Alternatively say I didn't care about tape noise reduction and just wanted noise reduction added to my main source could I send the decoder output into a digital recorder instead of a tape player? The manual confuses me because it looks like the tape deck is the last one in the chain does it have to be this way?

Sorry I am few years late, but today reel to reel is even more important than then when video was made. DBX 224 is type II which was made for cassette decks. DBX Type I was made for reel to reel. Teac has integrated dbx I to their latest models(Even "master" decks where speed is 15ips/38). Can you explain why did you use DBX Type II unit? Thanks for great video.

Will this work on a Ensoniq TS 12? I have no floppy disks for it either can I sample sounds and save them on USB or SD card and just plug and play or is there other steps? Thank you

If I install the HxC Floppy Emulator on my EPS sampler , will I be able to save my sounds directly to the SD ? I mostly sample all kinds of sounds , edit , program and save them as ensoniq instruments .

If the music snippets came from the Ensoniq then the conversion is well worth the cost and upgrade. I'm thinking of a MC-50 sequencer which should be a simple insert.

THe soundtrack is gorgeous which is why I love. THe sounds are so lush. Very nice exotic sounds. I just got mine out again and might try this mod but is pricy for the features and have a Newer Roland Juno haven't even used much yet and need to do master reset as it was demo unit at store. Ease of use is prolly worth the whole thang.
