My 3rd IYV on order is this model, the green LP Clone is too heavy for an old guy but it is a beauty, the wood match on front is terrific. Plays good sounds great I pit flat wound strings on the IYV LP and it has a unique sound. Good review

@JerryWhite-ee5hy Here’s what Google says According to available information, the headphone voltage output of a Positive Grid Spark 40 watt amp is around 40 volts. Key points about the Spark 40: Power output: 40 watts Amplifier type: Class D solid state Headphone jack: Standard 3.5mm Important note: While the exact voltage may vary slightly depending on the specific settings, the output is designed to provide sufficient power for most headphones.

@dennyps115 күн бұрын
Hi, and thanks so much for watching 👀 😊 Since you're brand new to guitar, my first piece of advice is to take your new guitar in for a string change and a simple set-up. This will be a great launch into the world of playing this beast and preventing minor things from making you discouraged in your new hobby. My 2nd piece of advice is to find a KZbin channel that "speaks to you," and you really connect with for some beginners lessons. Since you've chosen to start on an electric guitar, you'll need an amp. Don't go wild here because as you refine your style, you'll know better what type of amp to get, so start with a decent but inexpensive amp. Go for it and take it one step at a time. Playing guitar is a journey and not a destination.

I have that guitar in bad condition and I want to fix it. Should I repair it or should I look for another one?
@dennyps1Ай бұрын
After I completed my repairs and mods, it was a decent sounding and playing guitar. To your question, it's very much a personal preference, but I'll throw this in. Will it ever be really valuable 🤔? Probably not in our lifetime. Will it play, sound, and feel great 👍 Sure, after a good setup, it will rock great. So it comes down to what are your motivations for keeping it? Only you can answer that one. Note: If you are a tech kind of person and you can do the repairs and setup, it's a no-brainer. If you have to pay someone for the repairs and setup, then depending on how much it will cost, you might want to look elsewhere

Thank you. I’m not sure what kind of drill or what size of bit to use.
@dennyps1Ай бұрын
Hi, and thank you. Watch again we state what the tip sizes are, we are using. In essence, the tip size depends on how & what you are going to mount your drilled rock too. If you're going to simply put a piece of leather or wire wrap through the hole, then you'd be okay with a 1 mm diamond drill bit. (Available cheap in sets at harbor freight). Or better quality ones available at rock & gem outlets. What type of rotary tool is up to you. We suggest a variable speed tool and also a 3' flex shaft. It really makes drilling a bunch easier

@dawnr8511Ай бұрын
I bought that exact pickguard too, based on the advertised DCR ratings on the pups. Not a bad price.
@dennyps1Ай бұрын
Yep, it's not a bad price at all. I'm in the middle of modding it out. I've given it a unique paint job, replaced the pots with Bourns 500k full sized ones. Also, put in a Fender 5 way switch and wax potted the middle & neck pickups. I basically rewired it. Although to be a playing pickguard, I didn't "have to" do any of that. I know from the reviews that a few got duds but, for the most part, a stellar deal.

I’ve got PRS, Gibsons, etc but this beauty is my main guitar for now, no mods. It just plays so nice. I did replace strings with DR Blues to tame the edginess.

No doubt, and I hear you. Those CNC wound pickups are really nice all by themselves! I just wanted to mod this bad boy out and be able to split those great pickups, and it worked out great. @dennyps1Ай бұрын
Cool 😎 glad to help. Good luck with your mods. Take your time, and you'll get it just right! One thing to note the Humbuckers in neck & middle fit really tight, so if you end up pulling them out, be really careful. I wax potted those two, and they are not nearly as microphonic now. Mine is turning out wicked cool. Just finished the paint job on the pickguard last night. Airbrushed on Createx "Metallic silver", then some "Candy2o blood red" over some cool lace material and finished it off with Createx 4050 gloss, and it came out great. Like I said in the video, I'm changing out the pots to Bourns 500k full sized ($15 on Amazon) and a Fender 5-way switch ($9.95 on Amazon), I can't wait to hear the difference in sounds. I will do a follow-up video as a demo.

Question. Mine came with a buzzy hum on all toggle positions even while playing (touching strings). Have any idea where the wiring was wrong stock? Thanks
@dennyps1Ай бұрын
That sounds like a grounding issue somewhere on the guitar, but it's nearly impossible to tell with so little info and not seeing and hearing it myself. Try this. Undo the rear cover. Put the negative lead from an ohms meter on the ground part of the output jack. Next, touch the positive lead one at a time on each component, including the bridge and any shielding. If you run into any component that doesn't give you unity gain 0.00. Or, in other words, causes some resistance, then you've found your culprit. Resolder that joint or, in the case of the bridge, make sure that the ground wire from the volume pot is actually making good contact at the bridge

They are excellent pickups, 1 piece of advice I'd share is to use 250k CTS or Bournes pots. Don't go cheap here. I initially installed 500k pots, and frankly, the overall sound was way too bright. Tex-Mex pickups don't need any extra highs. Just sayin' Good luck, and when you get it done, let me know how they sounded for you.

I got one that was unplayable from the git go. Had to take it to a Luthier and he changed out the saddle because it was sanded down to far down causing all strings to just rest on the fret board making it unplayable. $60.00 later I got my guitar after repairs, and it played just great. I love this guitar now just unhappy that I had to take it in for repair. To be truthful I contacted Firefly and they refunded me $50.00 which I thought was nice would have been nicer if they had refunded the shipping costs as well for my troubles but there you go. I also changed out my tuners only because I love locking tuners and that also made a whole lot of difference. Do I recommend it for beginners, well no, only because you are taking a chance when you buy one of these. Will you get a good one or a bad one, like I did, that my friend would be the luck of the draw I assume. Last note I was not impressed with their quality control at the factory because mine was absolutely gorgeous I loved the body, the arm rest is great, but it was unplayable from the box as I said. If you decide to buy one just bear in mind that you might get a bad one or a good one.
@dennyps12 ай бұрын
I'm glad you love it now but keep in mind to get a "high end" guitar with the same features would have cost you way more than another $60.00, $50 of which you got refunded. I'd say you made out pretty good. Also, what you've described as an online purchase being true of this guitar is true of even some big name guitar's as well. I've seen and heard of this experience by many in the guitar community. Thanks for your comments 🙂

I bought this model Firefly recently and, for me, the plus side outweighs the downside, though there are some issues that could be disqualifying if the buyer isn't familiar with setting up an acoustic and troubleshooting. 1. In my case, the guitar arrived with a faint cosmetic crack to the soundboard, (which the vendor gave me the choice to return for a full refund, or take a partial refund.) The double boxing didn't have enough protection and was far too thin. I accepted the partial refund, and got to work on the other issues the guitar presented. 2. Fret buzz above the 5th fret required cleaning grit from under the piezo pickup and shimming the saddle. Weirdly, it was too low. I also had to loosen the truss rod as it was overtightened. These two adjustments fixed the buzzing and improved the guitar's action. 3. there was a lot of wood shavings and grit inside the guitar that needed to be cleaned out, and, the preamp wiring was not properly secured inside the acoustic. (a bit too sloppy) and 4. The fret ends were rough and needed careful polishing, and fretboard was very very dry and need a double shot of lemon oil and some buffing, and I changed out the strings. *With all that said, I find this guitar sounds awesome either with or without being amplified and not only is great looking, and killer for the price, it is really comfortable to play, and it does sound great.

Thank you for sharing this! As I say a lot, buying any guitar online is a bit of a crapshoot in terms of their setup. In the case of Firefly guitars, I've had good luck. That being said, they almost always have some issues that either the buyer or someone they hire will have to deal with to dial in a great setup. Overall, the quality of the components makes Firefly guitars worth more than they sell for by a lot. In the case of the Firefly GA01-E, it's my all-time favorite acoustic guitar. Like you, I had a bunch of setup issues to get it just right for me.

@dennyps13 ай бұрын
Hello, and thank you for watching! Matching a headstock color to the body is a bit tricky. It takes a lot of experimenting with color blending & matching, drying, etc. There are a couple of guitar painting shops online you can find through a Google search, but I'm not sure if they do headstock matching or not you would have to do some checking via email and ask if they do just the headstock. One that comes to mind is this one. They primarily do guitar bodies but may do custom headstock painting. You would have to email them and ask. simscustomshop.com/services/custom-paint/

I just needed to use the spare Fender neck somewhere and liked the maple fingerboard a little better, although the Indio RW original neck is very decent.
