Ryu hit a number of hard forehand slams but his play other than that was weak. Samsonov's backhand was much better than the backhand of Ryu.

Can’t help but feel something psychological really did get to Mizutani here, in the confident way we all feel with 6 game points. Take the serve at 10-7 for example. He serves from his backhand side with a sidespin that one would expect to curve toward the forehand. But he sits paralyzed watching his serve, not reset at all to handle the down-the-line to the forehand. Not something he’d be usually unprepared for on when delivering that serve, I think.
